Fastest / Funnest to mod golf cart?
Hey there I have a question and I'm sure the answer varies and a lot of it has to do with preference but I plan on selling my electric cart and I want to go with a gas cart. I plan to make it a utility/fun/mud cart that is gas and looks rugged. Whats the best year for all around performance and an engine that is fun/easier to work with and mod. I plan to run the thing with fat azz mud tires and keep it as low as possible with as much travel as possible, I need a companion to my pickups ha.
Thanks for any input, Matt. |

Re: Fastest / Funnest to mod golf cart?
You can't do that much with any stock engine that I know of. I'd say get an EZGO because you can buy more stuff for them, such as engine cradles and suspensions. Unless your budget is hurting, you should plan to go big block to start if you want to do what you are saying. Even a clone 16hp is far better than stock and they are about 380, though you might have to fab some stuff or buy other parts. There are ready made parts for honda and vangards. I like yamaha the best otherwise, and CC is not a bad cart either they all have their differences which are not that great....but the ezgo certainly has the most support in aftermarket.
If you go cheap I know you can buy a yamaha and put a lift and tires on, and disable the governor and be around 30mph gps just like that. Other carts you can go larger than 22s on some and maybe faster but you loose power. I just like the way yamaha drive better and they are durable, just my opinion, but like I said they are all similar and I'd get an EZGO if I were going to get serious. In fact the work cart you can fit the larger 25+ to 35hp V twins. |

Re: Fastest / Funnest to mod golf cart?
Fastest funnest is the one you can get the cheapest, best bang for the buck. I would say stay away from 97+ Club cars as the engine changed rotation and engines arent cheap for these years no matter what, found this out after I bought my 99 but it was a good deal. You can BB it but, you have to read up on the CW vs CCW engine debates.
