Tire size and design.....need help
I have an EZ GO PDS, installing All sport 5 inch drop axle, HD Leaf springs, 500 amp Alltrax, D&D 170-502-0001, 2 gauge wire.
Sole purpose is for hunting, traveling on a Midwest piece of property. No pavement travel, some moderate hills, but most critical, traveling on muddy farm "roads" with large ruts. There "roads" are generally used only for farm equipment and with fall rain can get sloppy even in a 4x4 truck. Any help on tire/wheel size recommendations for this setup is appreciated. |

Re: Tire size and design.....need help
Im not sure I can fit 24"??? My concern about going that big is loss of torque? Would I be better off with 23" or even 22"???

IMO... 22's would be perfect for what you have, and what your going to use it for!

Thanks Lockman... I was leaning 23" but maybe I will do 22". Also, I have heard narrow tires in mud that has slick top but hard bottom tend to bite and not float....anyone?

Re: Tire size and design.....need help
The best tires for mud have large tall lugs spaced far apart. Anything with a tight tread pattern will clog up with mud and become slick. Your set up is plenty of power for 23s if you choose... I would go for a wide tire, your cart is heavy and will tend to sink in anyway. Get or make some mud flairs, that sounds like fun. Get a run at everything .... Momentum is key

Re: Tire size and design.....need help
I agree with Scottyb that you should go wide and tractor lug style tread. I have 22'' and they have not let me down yet. Now my power to those tires has let me down a time or two, but that will soon be fixed with controller upgrade and brand new batts.Good luck
