Default G2 Long Travel or not to Long Travel

G2 6" Jakes Lift Running 22" tires.. We orig bought the cart to leave at the shooting club so I installed the standard 6" lift. THEN I took the wife and kids to Pismo and WAHALALALA the loved it and want to have it as part of our vacation plans throughout the year. My Intent is to install a Vanguard *pumped-up 30 to 42 HP* to be able to pull some of the hills ect...and keep up with the stock Rhino's The current lift kit seems to be too stiff for that type of use. Any ideas on a different shock ? or should I just save up and purchase a long travel lift kit ??? We want to use the cart (now) for Pismo Dunes and sierra fire trails and the shooting club any suggestions would be apperciated

I would get the new motor in it first then see how it does with the additional weight. Stability and steering are the big issues once you start really pushing these older carts to some high speeds, and for that a long travel IS the best. And you don't need 35-40 HP to really make these go, anything around 20 set up corrrectly (rev kit, gov removed, headers) will really scream!

Thanks for your reply so you feel that a stock 23hp Vanguard with rev-kit cam and exhaust would be sufficient to keep up with the Rhino's and not get me too stuck for a hill climb or two? I would rather install some wheel spacers and better front shocks then go to a whole new lift kit, since the existing kit is only 5 months old and not really been off-roaded yet. Any ideas on a softer front shock that is the stock length. I will provided pics as the roll cage and rear set just came back from the powder coating.
Thanks for your reply.
I'm really getting into this "buggie building thing"

Keep up in the current form? Yes, with the roll bar and back seat, probably not. Speed in these carts is a matter of RPM's, clutch size and performance and tire size. A 23 hp Vanny set up properly should get you to around 45 mph. Hill climbs? Maybe, your limited with the rear differential there as no posi units are available for that model unles you weld it into a locker. The smaller Vannys typically like to turn faster RPM's than the bigger motors and still have tons of torque.
