Default Project idea

Has anyone ever tried/seen a golf cart transformed into a snowmachine (snowmobile, snocat, whatever you want to call it)? Basically taking the skis and track from a snowmobile and putting it on a golf cart to make a side by side snowmobile like the old Skidoo Elites? I thinking with a little ingenuity it would be possible, just want to know if its been done and how it worked?

Never seen one myself. But I've only been into the carts for a year or so.

I had to look up what an Skidoo Elite was..... frankly it looks like something I'd use when I was over about 70 yrs old.

Seems like you could easily adapt some skis to the front of a cart. So would it make the cart turn any better than they do now in the snow? Which isn't very well in my Marathon's case. I had a little issue with that this weekend..... slight incline down to the lake & the cart wouldn't turn away from it in about 1' of snow. Luckily it would go in reverse though.

Not sure how you'd rig tracks on the back. Maybe using a pair of tracks used on an ATV? I understand that it takes quite a bit of horsepower to turn those tracks. So you better be planning on more than a stock 9 hp engine.

I saw this at my CC dealer a few years ago... Does this count? (and if it does... I hope there's $ to pay for it!)

I think seeing the width of a cart and a snow mobile, you would almost have to run side by side tracks to get enough track width to keep it from turning over in a turn.
Git-er-done and post up plenty of pics!

We don't get enough snow to warrant the build here so I did the next best thing.

The skis on the front are easy. The tracks take a significant amount of power to actually turn.
The other problem is, finding the tracks reasonably priced I've found several places to buy them, but the cost almost exceeds the value of my cart

We'll see how this goes.........

Yeah I figured the skis on the front would be the easy part, too. I'm not talking about the tracks you can buy to replace the tires. I live up in ND and a lot of people put them on their ATV's or Side by Sides but they are very spendy. I'm talking about a regular snowmobile track because you can get those parts up here for a dime a dozen and I think it would take less horsepower to turn. Plus, I'm not looking for something that will go 70mph, just something unique that I can tool around in the snow up here a bit.

Ry,
I've never seen it done but it certainly seems possible.

I would need mine to convert back to a wheeled vehicle for the non-snow months.
I's like to be able to convert the cart in under an hour........

I would think that you could work out a couple "like" skid frames like a couple M10's side by side to stabilize it with a center driven jack shaft??

I think it would be exceptionally cool
