95' fleet ezgo FnR wires Hot under load
Hey guy's , i'm still having the same problem of the wires from the FnR switch to the motor getting extremely hot when in the thick mud or steep hills i sometimes have to deal with where we hunt.
The cart is an EZ Go '95 fleet, 4ga wires, hd swich mods and solinoid, D&D torque motor, alltrax 650, 22" mudbusters with a 6" lift. The problem seems to be worse since i went from the 400 axe and the raptor motor to the D&D torque motor and the 650. Could be the problem is getting worse with time and not the swap. Even with brand new 4ga wires and all clean connections no change. I rebuilt the FnR switch 3 years ago but all i remember with the kit was the buss bars and contacs, i dont remember any springs or other things. Can the FNR switch just be worn out ? It is most likely from 1995. Do I need 2ga wires ? The swap to an electric cart from the 4 wheeler is no improvement if we get out smelling like burnt plastic !! Thanks for the help Mike |

Definitely go to #2 cables and a complete new F&R with HD Switch Cam.
I am using new ultra cool buss bars in my switch cams. They are made from ultra conductive alloys in a heat dissipating design. Tests show a 20% reduction in heat. |

Re: 95' fleet ezgo FnR wires Hot under load
Do you think that the FnR switch is the problem based on the heat bieng in the wires between the FnR and the motor ? Do you sell the switch and wires Scotty ? Thanks for the quick response, Mike

Re: 95' fleet ezgo FnR wires Hot under load
I had a cart in my shop last summer. Big 11 hp motor and 42v 450 amp controller. People smelled burning plastic... but cart would run... A laser thermometer revealed that a combination of small cables and the stock F&R were to blame. When I replaced the undersized wires and installed my ultra cool switch cam the temps dropped dramatically. We used a very long steep hill for temp tests. I do sell the custom switch cams and custom cable sets. Contact me via email or PM.
