Gear ratio change with larger tires
Want to put some 24" tires on my lifted cart, seems like I should change the gear ratio. Can this be done and is it a good idea?

Re: Gear ratio change with larger tires
It is hard to gear down.... but your concern is correct.... just up your power

Re: Gear ratio change with larger tires
Not sure why no one offers gear sets for the more popular lifted carts, i agree it seems like a good idea. Increasing the power seems to be the only alternative to compensate. I did change the gear ratio on my cart to compensate for the 31 inch tires, but I'm running a Volkswagen transaxle. Come to think of it, I increased the power a little too .

One of the sponsors sell some 15:1 gears. I can't remember which one though. I am not sure how much it would help but it is better than the 12:1 stock gears.

Re: Gear ratio change with larger tires
I have a tuff 1 with 13-1 gears in the back.I'm going to 24's just to get some speed back . That is once I start working on it.

Re: Gear ratio change with larger tires
East Coast Carts has the 15:1 gears. They are around $250. I am thinking about putting these in my cart because I am fixing to mount up some 26" tires. I may also get my motor rewound by PQ.
