Marathon Lifts
O.K. I bought my first cart. It's a '90 marathon. The swing arm lifts look really good. But I'm seing very limited choices for my Marathon. Has anyone modified a swing arm lift to fit them. I may settle for the drop axle or even modify the stocker. Any input????

Re: Marathon Lifts
Depends on what your gonna do with it. Front lifts can vary a lot in price, toughness & performance.
The cheapie block lifts will do the job, but their not very tough if your goin wheelin a lot. The a-arms or IFS are the bomb diggity for soakin up the bumps. But their costly &/or require some good fab skills. I saw someone here used a ST350 Workhorse drop axle, which run under $100 on Ebay. It would be strong & work pretty well. For the rear, some longer springs & shocks would be ideal..... or spring blocks & shock extensions seem to do the job for most people. A trick 3 / 4 link would be better for serious wheelin though. |

Re: Marathon Lifts
I don't plan on beating up too bad. Mostly campgounds and on my property. I'm trying to build it to endure my kids. I also like the looks of the IFS. I will probably go with something like what your talking about. The blocks seem prone to weeknes. I do a lot of fab work so "bring it".
Thanks, Casper |

Re: Marathon Lifts
Yea, the independent front suspensions do look cool. There are a couple of guys here who have retrofitted them on a Marathon.
Either mod a cart suspension from the likes of Jakes, Allsport or Terra. Dirtracer27x has a pretty sweet orange Marathon done this way. Or modify an ATV suspension. Richie had a cool one from a Honda 400EX a while back: |
