Water fording improvements
How are you guys crossing water on the trail?
Had to turn around on some stream crossings that were only knee deep Has anybody sealed up the belts and snorkeled the cooling & intake air for deep crossings or should I just plug up all the engine & trans holes and winch through? Anybody made a float kit that packs down tight? I'm leaning toward plugging it up and winch through or a float kit since either option would allow crossing several feet deep. |

Re: Water fording improvements
Is the starter sealed up fairly well?
Other than that it's just a matter of moving the regulator and engine switch up out of the water. |

The stater is not waterproof.
It will short out under water. If you don't believe me try it. .45ACP because shooting twice is silly, |

Re: Water fording improvements
Don't waste your time unless there is a way to totaly seal up the drive belt like a polaris atv......You may be able to keep it running with snorkels but it won't move

Re: Water fording improvements
The belt/CVT system in these carts is worthless for really boonyin around in deep mud & water. Only Honda ATVs have a good trans & 4WD for it in my book. My Arctic Cat 650V2 (Kawasaki engine & CVT trans) did OK. It's big weakness was reverse when it was stuck in the muck..... slipped several times on me. I shimmed it & tried different belts with some success. But nothing like real gears.
My cart sees a foot or so of snow occasionally. But rarely much mud or water. It just isn't built for it. |

Re: Water fording improvements
it comes down to the fact that if you want to play in deep water get somthing made for it. I dont try to drive my jeep in the lake for the simple fact that its not made for it. Could i build all sorts of things on it to make it do it ....yes. but it would work better and be easyer and cheaper to just buy somthing that is made to do it
