Tire advice for lifted 36v DS
I'm slowly fixing up an old (89) CC DS 36V with VGlide for my son. It has a 6 inch A arm lift kit plus new rear springs. It still has the stock motor, saving up for a PQ in the future, and original elecrical system but I have relpaced all the wires with 4G. It is almost all street use and no hills. My lateset question, how big of a tire - I'm thinking All Trail or Desret Duro - can I put on it without losing speed (actually I'd like to gain some speed)? I don't mind losing a little acceleration but top speed and looks are priorities. 22"? 23"? 24?
I must have looked at a hundred posts here, I'm sure there is at least one that answers this, but I can't find it. |

Re: Tire advice for lifted 36v DS
I've done some more searching and found a lot of answers to what will fit the lift, but not what will fit the power. Since the current wheels and tires actually need replacing, I have to do that now and the motor in the future. Thanks

Re: Tire advice for lifted 36v DS
I have a 36v resistor cart with the v-glide. Im running 25's and havent had any issues. I beat mine pretty hard, it has got hot a few times but nothing too bad yet. It is a little faster and is about the same off the line.

Kidder, how high is your cart lifted. I have a 6" A arm kit and was going to put 24s on. Most people have told me that they don't think the stock motor will turn anything over 22s and don't think the lift will take anything over 23s, but it sure is nicer to hear from experience. I just spoke to Rick at PQ and am going with a motor upgrade next week, so far they have been the best people I've dealt with since starting this.
If anyone is interested I'll try to keep pics of the project as it goes from the dust heap in the back of someone's garage to hopefully a fun, working cart. |

Re: Tire advice for lifted 36v DS
The PQ Bandit and 4G wires seem to handle it just fine. The guys at PQ suggested an upgrade to 48v. After talking to them it seems that all I need to do now is replace the solenoid (they say the wiring, F&R and Vglide would handle it). More pics to come.
