My new 98 Ez-go gasser, Terra Toys lift
Here is my first cart. 98 Ez-go with a Terra Toys A-arm front suspension with air shocks, leaf springs in rear, 24" Carlisle AT489 tires, Douglas rims, rear seat (poorly done), cd/mp3 with speakers, carbon fiber dash. I have a few questions.
1st Question. My passenger side air shock doesn't seem to be charging all the way up. I checked airlines and fixed a kink that I thought was the problem. Is there some way to check the shock itself to see if it is not holding air? Second. I want the rear to ride softer. I have built leaf packs before for Jeeps but not small ones for carts. Can I remove a single leaf from the pack for a softer ride, obviously with a lower ride hight. Third. Has anything in here been modded? Not sure what is stock or upgraded. Guy before me didn't know either. Hits 22mph according to GPS. Fourth. My friend is building me a cage similar to the one below. Does anyone have close up pictures of the bikini top they made for it? I want the cage to incorporate the rear seat and a rear step. Any suggestions as to what to add to the cage while it is being fabbed? Thanks guys! Ben |

nice pics, yea you should be able to remove a leaf spring to soften the ride some, while at it I would remove the twisted wire spring holder and replace with spring brackets or bend some flat metal for it . not sure about bikini or rear seat. I'm sure somebody will chime in on that. looks like a fun cart

Yep, good point. I will probably remove the smallest leaf.

Re: My new 98 Ez-go gasser, Terra Toys lift
before removing a leaf, let some air out of the tires. that will help. also you ahve to understand you are running 4 wheeler tires and they are thicker so ride will be rougher.
it looks like the gov have been adjusted all the way in. the nut on the spring on the diff is fully copllapsed. you need to run a HD drive belt. it 1/2" shorter and provides better low end torque, but you may loose top end. I test airshocks/air bags for suspension on cars by mixing up dish soap and water and spraying it all over the shock and lines. when it leak you will see it bubble. make sure you use high bubble soap. I have even known to dunk a shock or two in water to find any leaks. Water wont hurt them. As far as top, i have no idea. |

I will try the bubble water trick tonight and air out the tires. They are set at 10psi but I just noticed the tire says 7psi. 5 prolly in the back? |

A guy from AZ had a piece of diamond plate cut, then installed it in the top of cage with clamps from a ski boat rack iirc. It is posted here couple years back maybe. I might make a rear cage extension removable if I could.

Re: My new 98 Ez-go gasser, Terra Toys lift
I reupholtered the seats and installed seatbelts for the kids from an VW Beetle. 3 yards of xtreme gray vinyl at $9/yd. It was a bit of work wrestling the vinyl around corners but looks way better than the old yellowed skins. I had to fab up some captured nut inserts for the wallowed out bolt holes in the old wood baseboard.

How can this only go 22, a G9 will do 27gps with the governor all the way down and still working with 22 tires. I'd check that out.
