My 3 Wheel E-Z-GO-Everywhere
Hey everyone;
we've had my cart for about 12 years now, it's been mine for about 4. shes on her third set of used batteries, and second axle. Other then that it has been great for us. So my E-Z-GO-EVERYWHERE :D had a long battle of worn out splines on one hub. We had to buy a new spline drive hub ($130) and it worked for two years. but the shaft must have been worn out too. When the new hub worn out cause of the damaged shaft... i ground the axle shaft square and drilled and tapped the hub and bolted it on with the one factory bolt and 4 bolts i added. When that fix failed the following year i welded it :!: (yeah... haha.. hub to washer, washer to nut, nut to axle shaft!) and it sheered the weld when i pinned it. welded it again.. sheeered on a hill later that day. (wheel falls off every time now cause the nut is welded and stripped now) weld, fail, weld, fail... weld weld weld wellld! It was good for a week and broke the axle shaft! Im done with that,, time for a new axle.. 48v club car 3.1 hp ss was easy to get. So now i sit with a working cart that is gutless over 10km/h How can i add power to my system? Will adding one 12v deep cycle work for the time being? Modifications: 22x8 rear tires, club car axle, custom 4" front lift, custom 6" rear lift, brake peddle mud flap, brake skid plate todo list: rear diff protection, 4g wire, shocks, rear sway bar, tires, re upholster seat, lights, stereo, |

Let me make sure that I understand. You now have a EZ-GO 3-wheeler 36 volt cart. It has a Club Car rear end complete with 48 volt Club Car motor? If this is the case then you could get your power and speed back by swaping out that motor for a Club Car 36 volt motor.

Re: My 3 Wheel E-Z-GO-Everywhere
it feels like it did with the 36v ezgo motor if not slightly less power.. i would like to increase my voltage then swap motors. if i could just add a 12v marine to the circut i would be happy. i dont mind the charging difficulties but i just dont want to fry my controller or anything. unless i need a bigger one then ill fry it. its a curtis controller.

The old ezgo curtis may be rate 24-36v in which case you will fry it and the solenoid by going to 48v.

Re: My 3 Wheel E-Z-GO-Everywhere
Mathematically the gain is 33%. Actual results vary due to the age and condition of your motor and differential, etc. 25% increase in torque and speed is a safe projection. Costs vary because there are so many different controller & solenoid combinations. I think you could do it for $500 on a budget... with an automotive charger for the extra 2 6v batteries in the bagwell.

Sounds like you are going to want a big controller. That will leave the option open for a big aftermarket motor later. I would go with 700a controller and 400a solenoid. 2g cables through out. And add a wheel

Re: My 3 Wheel E-Z-GO-Everywhere
tipping is fun! only rolled it past 90* once.
i dont think ill upgrade the motor or ill end up dieing. speed isnt a priority just getting to the top of any hill or to the other side of a mud hole. so to take full advantage of my 3.1 hp 48v would i be ok with a 500A? my curtis is a 24-36v 275a now.. lol tiny! 500a is good. For a stock motor it is plenty. You will see a BIG difference
