Default 6 Ply versus 4 Ply Tires

Well I sold my other cart so I'm getting ready to order Wheels and Tires with a lift kit for the one I'm keeping.
I have read about carts swaying and driving funny with the regular tires that come with the wheel and tire kits if this is true.
What brand off road tire should I ask for to get the stiffer tire, size will be 23/10.5/12. I'm going to get the 8 spoke polished Spider from Stretch Plastics. Also I'm going with a Jake's 6/7 inch A-Arm lift.

Thanks LURCH!!!!!!!!!

I'm not a fan at all of the all terrain type tires. When I was running 23 inch tires I went with the Carlisle 489's. Very good tire IMO. Great in mud and on pavement as well.

Glad to hear this Boke! I like the 489 also! It's either 489 or the Trail Wolf...

The Carlisle All-Trails are aweful in ride and handling. They are very, very stiff. My Dad brought his cart out last year with these on it(22x11x10).He said it was way too rough on my trails,I've never thought they were terrible.Checked his tire pressure(pre-set @15psi).I dropped them to 6psi,still terrible, the tires are so stiff that they are still hard at 6psi.Go with a semi-aggressive Trail-Tire or Mud-Tire.You won't be sorry.I run Trail-Pros on the rear and I run in mud, dirt, water, and do yard-work(no lawn-damage)I run the ITP 589's on my quad. They are a beast off-road,good on lawns as long as you behave and don't turn sharp, and they are fine on black-top as well(I've had it over 50mph and it was smooth).Hope this helps.

Another 489 lover! Very sure footed on gravel and dirt surface.

Yes sir! I will be going with the 12" wheel and the 22" 489's. I like the look of more wheel with a mud or off-road tire

Are they smooth on black top, my cart won't be off road at all. I was looking at some V/X,s in 23/10.50/12 has anyone used these.

Lurch, that might be there weakest area. Black top , they are noisy and they vibrate. But I built my car to be used universally, and they are light weight (rotating mass). So I just put up with it. If yours won't be off road, then you might want to get a tire with more tread. I understand the All Trails are good there.

Thanks Mike, by looking at them I thought they would. My cart is for the pits and my neighborhood streets, campground 3 or 4 times a year.
I had heard that the all trails would wobble and were out of round and didnt handle good.
I might try to find a smooth and fat tire that would look good on a lifted limo cart.

Talk to chevyracing75 he has a set of 23 inch all trails but for 14 inch rims that are almost like new. You gotta get rims anyway so maybe going to 14 inch rims is an option?
