Default Insulating seat bottoms

My seat gets really hot during summer months (18 up Vanguard). Any ideas on insulation for under the seat? 96 EZGO
Appreciate any advice. Devin

You could try something like this

http://www.jegs.com/i/Thermo-Tec/893...oductId=758345

or more heavy duty

Thanks! Was thinking of the foam board with aluminum foil. I'll compare R values

It doesn't matter so much as the R-value. You need to be looking for a reflective material to direct the energy away from the point of contact. any material you choose should really have no insulation R-value because you do not want it to absorb any of the energy(heat) into it. Just be reflected away. So the thin styro board with smooth sheet metal tape would suffice. Jegs does have the heat barrier along with other manufacturers and distributors, all over priced for what you can throw together at the house for pennies and have the same end result. just my two cents, its what I have done career wise the past two decades.

maveric, it sounds as tho your saying insulation has no value. from what you said, i should get rid of the insulation on the west side of the house? is was going to suggest 1/2 foam board with a radiant barrier. siding underlayment.

The most important thing to remember about insulation is that R actually means RETAIN. meaning to retain the amount of energy transfer. Having a higher R-value doesn't mean squat. You don't want to retain any energy in the seat or point of contact. Density is what your after along with reflective coating. a thin layer of whatever you choose for looks coated with a reflective material will outlast and out perform any amount of R-value you throw at it. Choose the styro board for lightweight backer material and coat with foil tape for the cheapest solution. Keep in mind air is the best and worst insulation. you need to know how to control its environment to achieve its greatest potential.

West side of the house? actually here in Ohio, storm fronts have been coming from the north more this season than west. So I would double down on the north side because the sun naturaly will heat the west side as it sets. At no time unless your in chile, or abouts will the northern sun heat your home.

Removing the heated air or recirculating the heated air may have some benefits, but you must consider the various terrain you will be encountering. Creating more dust and debris movement, placement of the circulation device, and actual benefit of the cost involved in cooler seats, engine, and compartment, opposed to a top end kit. Even steven in my eyes, but have seen afew cart mods incorporating electric fans from fork trucks, and rice burners installed for extreme cart situations. I would stick with a simple foam or styro pad with some reflective tape. not too much thought should go into this app as if you got the throttle down, your *** is never standin still long enogugh to feel the heat. if your worried about asthetics, mount the reflective taped styro or foam under the body panel directly under the afected area. go to wal mart or a surplus store, get a foam roll out mat, cover one side with foil tape, and mount using the bolt thru the seat bottoms. this app is always at your own risk. check for clearences, combustibles, and mechanical henderance. I like living in my house, so use your own common sense.
