Default Calling all Club Car XRT 550 experts

Hello to all. I have a XRT 550 bone stock with the FE350 powerplant. I am looking to upgrade the powerband / torque if possible. I would like to keep the rev limiter as the wife/kids use the car too. This cart is pretty peppy stock but could use better throttle response and a smoother / stronger powerband. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks

Your best be would probably be to do some clutch work. You could also play around a bit with the governor and still not have to mess with the RPM limiter.

I don't know how you would smooth out or change the powerband. It should already run pretty smooth unless there are some other problems with something.

I have noticed improved throttle response on many vehicles by installing a more free flowing air filter and exhaust system. You may or may not be able to find something like this for your cart though I have built my own intake before and attached a universal K&N filter with good results. You may have to go that route if you want the benefits of a free flowing intake. As for the exhaust, possibly going to a supertrap style muffler might make a difference compared to the stock unit. Good luck with your upgrades!
