My Hunting Buggy Project
I am building a 36v hunting buggy, here is a list of the current upgrades, and a list of things that are in the works, let me know what else you would want on a hunting buggy. I have some club members that I am trying to sell these to and we mainly deer hunt, and our hunt club trails do not consist of too many mud bogs...these are more for stealth transportation to the stand then playing in the mud...
- 350 amp controller and Hi-speed motor(off of freedom cart) - 6v Trojan T105's - 6" Jakes spindle lift - HD rear leaf springs - 23x10.50x12 AT tires - 12x7 aluminum wheels - fold down back seat - headlight/brake light kit(haven't installed the brake lights yet) - 12v power supply - Removable double gun rack - Black top and Black seat covers These are the things I have planned to put on : - Mossy oak new breakup camo vinyl wrap(dreading this - hopefully be done this weekend) - Black jakes front brush guard - 500 amp Alltrax prog controller - 4ga weld wire set - 8hp GE motor (or EMP, haven't decided yet) - HD F&R switch - 400-1000 HD solenoid - Rear hitch - Front and rear accessory lights - Fender flares Thats what Ill be going with and maybe add a winch if requested...What else am I missing? |

Re: My Hunting Buggy Project
Looking good so far and your list sounds pretty complete. Have you thought about a Plum Quick motor re-wind?? I hear great things about them and easier on the wallet than a new motor.
Are you going to put some big off road lights on the brush guard? Could come in handy on those early mornings? You confused me with the hi speed motor thing? Can you explain? Are you saying that you are running a PDS motor on a series cart? |

Re: My Hunting Buggy Project
Here is what's on my motor:
Advanced DC Motors, Inc. Part#: 73124G03 Part#: BD4 4001 36V Class#: 35420 Rating: AU2500 HI SPD Date: 12-22-04 It gets up close to 18mph, so I know its better than standard, and I got it off of a freedom series cart. The other cart had a lot of cancer in the frame so I swapped over all the goodies. And how much do the plum quick motors run? I have heard good things about them. |

Re: My Hunting Buggy Project
TGJR - I painted the top, but EZGO does make one in black now, my distributor does not carry them yet...And I bought the seat covers from my distributor, they are factory replacements.
Scooter, that does sound like a good deal! Thanks for the info, I may end up going that route now! |

Did you use the Krylon Fusion paint? How is it holding up so far?

Re: My Hunting Buggy Project
I did use the krylon fusion paint from wally world, I used 3 cans to cover the whole thing, Im no expert, I just cleaned it good and then sprayed it, I know others who recommend the scuffing with sandpaper and some do an etching primer...Ill just touch it up as it gets scuffed...I plan on purchasing the factory black one from my distributor as soon as they get some in...
I intended to wrap my cart today, but my helper has decided to go to the hunt camp instead, and with it being my first wrap attempt, I want to make sure I dont waste money trying to do it myself...So it may be postponed til next week, I will def post pics... |

Re: My Hunting Buggy Project
Went ahead and mounted the fender flares and brush guard to drill holes & make sure everything lines up properly, then Ill disassemble to camo wrap it. I also mounted the mag lite to the front driver side top strut, hooked up the 12v outlet, and the front accessory lights, still have to finish wiring the lights and mounting the rear accessory lights, then I'll be good on most of the accessories.
