Rear Axle Clocking with Jake's Lift Kit
I may be missing something, but will ask anyway.
I am preparing to install a 6" Jake's lift kit in my '01 TXT gas (ME29 rear end). My question concerns the rear portion of the lift. In the stock installation, the rear iso-mounts have a hole that accepts the bosses welded to the axle tubes (facing "up") which clocks the rear end radially in the cart and provide anti-rotation of the rear end housing. The lifting blocks in my Jake's kit are taller than the height of the bosses on the rear axle tubes whereby they will not engage and provide the radial clocking and anti-rotating feature like the stock installation. I did call Jake's, and either I did not explain myself clearly, or their answer was kind of blase - like it is no big deal. So, I guess my questions are, is this not important, or does some other facet of the kit provide this features that am just not seeing, or is the torque on the new U-bolts enough to keep the rear end from rotating? I am going to be running some serious hp compared to the stock engine through this thing, and want to understand better before I install it. |

I know what you're talking about Drag,I think it'll twist if you have enough power. You might add some simple traction bars.hookm

Re: Rear Axle Clocking with Jake's Lift Kit
Husker: I'm at work and don't have access to my photos, but had found some off the net that I was getting ready to post to help explain what I am talking about, and then saw Hookm reply.
Hookm: any examples of available traction bars that work on a TXT, or are you talking something custom? Being an anal-retentive engineer, I tend to sweat the details - that's my nature. Another thing I noticed is that the Jake's kit I have (6207) up until recently, used to use iso-mounts (not sure if new or the stock ones) that were flipped over that would have maintained the OEM functionality, and I cannot figure out why they switched to the current ones with taller shackles. It doesn't look right to me. |

My rear end set up is completely different,I made a 4point suspension by cutting the leaf springs behind the axle & using coil over shocks. I simply put bars on top of the leaf to keep it from twisting.Search ,

The rear axle will not be able to twist/rotate if you still have the stock aluminum motor/axle mount. The housing on the axle is supported in two ways, one is a metal support bracket and the axle tube on the drivers side has a large locator pin that fits into the alum. mount.

Re: Rear Axle Clocking with Jake's Lift Kit
Correct, that is the root of my observation - the previous Jake's design utilized the locator pins, while the latest design which I have, does not.

No, there is one locator pin (very large) the size of a quarter only on the drivers side of the axle tube, inboard where the stock U-bolt mounts to the motor/trans mount

Re: Rear Axle Clocking with Jake's Lift Kit
The large one on driver's side tube (facing down) was not used on my OEM installation. The two smaller diameter ones (facing up when the rear end is located properly) are what the isomounts use.
