Thumbs up Transmission rebuild?

I have a 2001 ezgo gutted from electric to a 24hp Honda v-twin. after rebuilding the top end of my motor I went to go for a cruse around town and now my axle is acting up. the right rear tire has no power while the right is ripping along at the right speed. I also heard a sound for the tranny that sounded like i was dragging that right tire but it was rolling fine. checked brakes and there good working fine, pulled the axles off and they are not stripped at all and look fine. So my question is do i need to rebuild the transmission and what could in possibly be? should i just get a new tranny?

It's possible that something broke off and is floating around in there causing problems. I don't have that type of rear axle/trans so my specific knowlege of them is limited. If you are sure the problem is in the rear end/trans then I would at least open it up and have a look to be safe.

Just gears in there, if you know its in the trans I would pull it out and take a look. Some trans the governor can come apart in there after a while if left in. Could be a bad bearing. I had one that ran dry took the gears out, the gears were really loud like a big super charger, except it was not cool at all lol.

my bet is that it is a bearing. I had a bad one and it made all kinds of noise. But it was also leaking out of the output shaft

It sounds like I just needed to crack it open and look around so I cleaned it up and started to take it apart but hit some snags especially as this is my first time doing any kind of tranny. First do I need to take the belt drive wheel off of it, my snap ring pliers wont fit? Second this thing has never been cracked before, any methods I should try for pulling the two sides apart?

Hey madoc1 good info man I appreciate it but completely wrong axle. I believe this is the standard ez-go tranny

ok finally got to my local machine shop and had them pull the drive wheel for me. Cracked it open and got my first look, first problem is how do i get this gear spindle out (refer to pic w/ red arrow) what holds it in or do i need to just pull real hard? Second to satisfy my curiosity and to further my knowledge does anyone know what the little centrifugal weights do on the same gear as my previous question?
