Default high speed gears

I am going to order a set of high speed gears this week. we have a 01 CC DS with a 6" jakes lift kit and 22" rubber. I drove a cart last week that had 6 to 1 gears in it. it was not lifted but was wicked FAST !!!!!!!. I concerned that 6 to 1 maybe to fast for ours with the lift kit???? any suggestions

Thanks

Hmmm....too fast? I don't think you can have that problem with a stock engine. Just use less rpm and go slower? I'd say 30 mph in these carts is as fast as you'd ever want to go without modified brakes, roll bar, and belts. Mine tops out at 20mph, and to be honest I want more speed, but I probably don't "need" more speed.... Speed gears wont change your power delivery or "feel" of the power, they will just allow you to go 30 mph instead of 18 mph. The gears might even slow the acceleration down with big tires and stock engine.

Are they the ones with 6 to 1 or 8 to 1? It will slow acceleration, not good for climbing or pulling. It will take a while but on flats they will go much faster. People that run roads like the big gears because just rolling along they knock the rpm down a lot. People running off road usually don't want too high because it hurts slow speed power, they wind up rpm if they need some speed but don't run that way all the time.

My stock G9 will gps 30 on pavement and 28 on dirt drive, it is fairly fast for offroad I rarely top it out on trails. On roads a little more would be nice but really it is gutless now so I would not do it....without a big block. I did a clone that runs the same speeds, but has a lot more power at lower speeds/rpm. It could pull gears a lot better but the power is too much fun to give up off road lol. A v twin you put a rev kit in and they will rev higher for more speed than stock or clones.

Once I put gears in an old stock CC with that flathead engine. It gps 28 down a paved road bumping the rev limit, it was pretty quick I was burning the stock golf tires across the yard lol. It was a real sleeper.

If you have a lifted cart at even 30mph you have to make sure your front end is tight and the toe is set just right or they get wiggly. 35-40 is usually the limit normal people like to do lol. There are gear calculators on the net to figure your speed, check one out and see what you get.
