3" inch wheel spacers

Anyone have any experience with a wheel spacer this wide?

I want more stability when climbing in rocky terrain.

Any downside to 3" inch spacers that I should consider?

From an automotive history, I would say increased bearing wear and kingpin bushing wear. Larger scrub radius.

They might be strange on the front, can cause steering feedback and more wear. I'd widen the front instead. They seem to work pretty well on the rears.

I'm using 3" in the rear of my workhorse to match the long travel stance in front.... 2 yrs later and much use with disc brakes and big V-twin power = no problem... I just bought 2" for the rear of my new electric to almost match the front long travel .... I have not tried this on the front.

I used 3" spacers on the front of an atv once, big mistake. It puts more leverage on steering components and when off road it will bend or break tie rods. It also makes the steering unpredictable at speed. I agree about widening the front axle, would yield a safer and more predictable ride. And I also agree about the rear, spacers back there will be fine. I used to race and jump my atv and never broke a rear hub or spacer. I don't think you'll be jumping 10 feet in the air though will you? LOL.

I am running 3 inch spacers on the front with a Jake's LT kit. As for steering, i don't get much feedback but I'm using a HD sand car rack and pinion. I believe they are going to put some more wear on bearings possibly, but this can be dependant on wheel offset as well. I have not had problems with them, but i did replace the front bearings when I built the front end.

Read the mounting instructions! torque down run them around a little and retorque. I didn't and had a wheel R U N N O F T

Good post about the re-torque. I just put my 2" on the rear of my TXT so it will almost match the front Strech LT width. I put a drop or 2 of red lock-tight on each lug before running the nuts on with an impact.
