Start with the basics,do a tune-up(air-filter,plug,fuel-filter,new belts). If you are going off of pavement at all,a 4" or 5" lift and 22" tires would be first(If you do this and have hills,trails,etc..look up my low-buck clutch mod postings on this site.).Then after that it depends on what you plan to use it for.You can add a dump-box on the back(probably the most-valuable upgrade)I built mine and use it for everything from garden stuff to taking the garbage to the road. After that its' up to you. There are roll-cage units,rear-seats,radios',etc.....Hope this helps.

Definitely helps! It's electric so there's not much tune-up to do, right? I'm thinking the lift, wheels, and tires definitely. Probably won't have much to spend currently after that. I would like to get the speed up after lifting it....any recommendations and approximate price figures there?

Hang out and see who else responds,I'm a gasser-guy,I've got no clue on the electric-stuff.You can buy a budget-lift for under $100.

Yeah, I saw that one but the low price scared me. Maybe someone will chime in that's used it!

99 times out of 100 you get just what you pay for IMO. Do your homework before selecting the lift, or ask questions here. I blew near your total budget on just my lift, but I am a big fan of long travel IFS and the advantages it has over other systems. I also did not want to buy one lift, just to be dissatisfied and purchase an upgrade later.

I put a 4'' Block Lift with 22x11x8 tires and wheels on mine that is all I could find at the time when I did it, gonna change it to a axle lift one of these days, Although I haven't had no trouble with the block lift. Just like the looks of the drop axle, I go in rough terrain all the time no problem.

It would be easy to spend your whole budget on electrical upgrades. The 91 elec. needs a speed control & solenoid upgrade, a F&R upgrade, and a cable upgrade to reliably handle the larger tires and new ranch duties.
Does the cart have a resistor coil or speed control drive system?

Jakes had a free shipping black Friday deal online yesterday so I went ahead and bought the 4" jakes lift, 10" black steel wheels, and 22" Sahara Classic AT tires all for I believe $649. Saved $79 on shipping. This was about an average deal for a newer cart, but a pretty good deal with not much being available for my '91 model.
