Default trailer size needed for 6" lifted cart

my cart has a 6" all-sport lift on it with a rear seat. It also has rhox 23" tires with offset 10" rims. (i could use my original wheels to move it, but dont want to unless it saves me $$$)
its an hour away from home so i cannot measure it.

what size trailer will i need.
i know bigger is better, but what is the minimum size?

will a 5x8 do?
will a 4x8 do?

i am in plattsburgh, is there a cheaper place to get a trailer than lowes or walmart?

5 x 8 is the bare minimum, and will be too small if you have a backseat on it. Even then with the lift and bigger tires it may be a squeeze.....5 x 10 would be much better. Try your area craigslist, or local trailer sales for used deals. See this thread for a better discussion:

I see you edited for the back seat info.....get a 5 x 10!

This is what I ended up doing! It's a tilt 5 1/2 X 12 with a 3500 lb drop axle. I made it out of 1/8 X 2 X 2 square tubing. It is built specifically for my cart which is right at 11 ft long and you have a few inches on each side to be able to step on to get in and out of the cart. Building one is not for everybody but after looking at all of the trailers out there I couldn't find one that worked for me.

NICE little trailer there, Lurch.
I built one and it has been modified a couple of times to fit ever bigger golf carts, then I found a little rental equipment tilt trailer. It has a drop axle and big Tires, easy loading and great towing.

I wish I could have found one used, would have saved a lot of money.
Your trailer looks great and would have worked great too.

I'm a push over for a trailer project... a local club was getting out of the recycle business so they had frames with axles and plates for sale for 1-$150 each, that's what I built that trailer on... here is a pic of my little tilt.... it's another work in progress. Right now it is my go to trailer for single carts because it is light and low and has big tires. 3 things that you want in a golf cart trailer imho.
Again, your trailer looks very nice but, the high cost of steel is making building your own expensive.

Around here tractor supply, lowes and places like that get around 1200.00/1300.00 for a 6 X12 non tilt with wire mesh on the bottom and made out of angle iron with I think a 2000 lb axle and 13 or 14 inch tires bias ply, no spare and no tool box.

When I got finished with mine I ended up with about 1400.00/ 1500.00 but I have a tool box, spare tire, alum. wheels and fenders, radial tires, 3500 lb drop axle and it tilts. I also had mine powder coated instead of paint. This is with no labor at all so if you had to pay some one to do it you are probably looking at 2500.00 at least.
You just can't beat finding a used one if possible.

yes theres a tractor supply here lurch. i will check them out too.

will check with the guy around the corner too, see if he can build or rebuild one for me.
i cant budget more than a grand into it.

the wife wants it to be clean and shiny; so that rules out 90% of what i saw on craigslist. :P
