CPP Torque Kit
On my '94 G9, how big of a tire can I safely run on my lifted cart with stock
engine and the torque kit? I would not want to start burning up the drive clutch or wearing out belts! Looking to use a 25" or 27" tire. I am going to be using the stock engine until I find a decent donor quad to swap parts off! Thanks guys! Tonka |

Re: CPP Torque Kit
I'm my G2 I have the stock motor and the torque kit from CPP and yesterday my wife yelled at me cause I had a trailer hooked up and my 24" tires left two trenches in the back yard. Every Yamaha needs to have the torque kit stock or not. Before it when I hooked up the trailer engine would rev a little and tires didn't turn. Order it put it in and then wonder how you ever lived with out it. I'm very confident it would handle taller tires easily. While your on the website spend the extra $15 for the high performance jet. I didn't notice anything on top end but right off idle and bottom end were improved decently.

Re: CPP Torque Kit
Thanks JC, I had a G1 with 22" tires and no torque kit. It did pretty well. I will put the torque kit in when I take out the swingarm!

Re: CPP Torque Kit
Since I put mine in a few months back and had friends ride in it before and after I've now installed about 25 of them. They are that worth it. Couple a of tips get a good ratcheting strap and grease+rubber mallet = happyness all around. Those springs are STRONG.

Re: CPP Torque Kit
If you get stuck feel free to PM me during install. If it's bad enough I'll get on the phone with you. Just realize it's a battle of millimeters with the spring. With the carb just just pop off the carb pull the 10mm bolt off the bottom slide out the pin for the float and needle then just unscrew the old jet screw the new one in. It takes longer to pull the carb then to actually replace the jet. I do highly recommend it with the spring they go very well together. I pull away faster then a guys G16 that's all stock but govenor adjustment.

Re: CPP Torque Kit
On the other thread where the guy asked if a lifted cart will fit in the garage you asked for pics. This is the same one with the torque spring.

Re: CPP Torque Kit
I had the spring with out the sheave for a while, and there was a difference. I now but the sheave on from CPP, and really if was not too hard. I sprayed the nut with a lil penetrating oil, and the outer sheave too, at the base, and the nut came off with a hand wrench.
I also found the spring only need to be compressed a little, to be able to get the nut off and on while not under pressure. I used a wooden wedge between the sheaves and the outer poped right off, and then the half moon I shot some pen. oil on and just tapped it a weeeeeeeeee bit with a punch on the end and it fell right out. Another tip, rotate the shafe so the slot for the half moon key is at the top, so you can just set it in place and don't have to try to hold it. Oh, and when I put it all back together, it went just as easy, except the tie strap fgot pinched between the sheaves..LOL> I ratcheted it back open a lil and stuck a screw driver betweend them, loosened the strap and got it out of the way and poped the screw driver out..... easy easy. Not able to drive it yet, as the weather is total cr@p! |
