Default Long travel rear suspension

So, my cart has an excellent long travel independant front suspension. The rear has your standard lift with medium dty leafs. It is an EZGO TXT.

Does anyone offer a kit, or at least patterns to cut for building a 4 link or similar long travel rear suspension? I have limited work space, and limited experience modding carts. I have decent fab skills and I am a machinist, however, I've done little automotive type work, and even less with carts. I'd like to do it right, the first time. It may be asking a lot, but i love my cart, and as fast as it is, it seems a waste to have such good front suspension with such limited suspension in the rear. I have a general idea in my head of how it should be done, but I'd like to prevent a lot of down time.

Any tips are welcome. Thank you in advance.

Jakes makes one for your style cart, I have never installed one, but it is for gas only.

Here is a build thread with a nice rear LT set up.

http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/membe...ng-travel.html

I'm not suggesting you run out and try to buy one, but if you're thinking about fabricating one this system looks like it was done right. You could certainly get some ideas here. The suspension is a triangulated three link. The triangulated link eliminates the need for a pan hard bar. I'm not 100% sure that this set up doesn't have a pan hard bar though.

I've never seen that Jake's rear LT kit before, looks interesting.

Please don't think I'm trying to hi-jack the thread but since the subject is here I'd like to get some opinions as far as long travel is concerned. I'm building a golf cart for sand only. Welded rear end hi speed gears and an 80hp polaris 2 stroke. I'm in the process of putting TRX450R front suspension on modded a bit here and there. For the rear I have tire placement and shocks all figured out. I'm wondering what you guys think about the front engine cradle mount. I can't decide between building it like the factory on the G2 connecting it on 2 sides so it will have pretty much 0 twisting flex or do a 3 link style. I'm thinking most the quads out in the sand have no rear and twist and the 3 link might be more flexible allowing for the tires to move up and down seperatly but it would be less stable in the turns and running bowls. So what do you guys think?

I'm looking at the Jakes LT Rear setup and I'm thinking it's NOT an independent rear. Looks like it just replaces the leaf springs with coil-over shocks. Am I missing something?

This was my impression, but in doing so it is possible to have more travel than leaf springs may provide. I didn't see a new track/pan hard bar in the kit though. That makes me wonder what locates the rear axle in the chassis.

There are plenty of sources for tabs, DOM tubing, threaded tubing inserts (weld in), rod ends, etc. if you want to design and build your own kit.

I agree it would have more travel, but in order to be independent rear suspension you need to break the halfshafts at the diff with CV joints. Maybe it's semantics?

This is NOT IRS:

It IS long travel however. It is still a live axle.

That's about the all of Gman. I have a LT rear with 10inches of travel meaning one wheel can be 20 inches off level with the other side but they are still on a common shaft, so to speak.
By the way LT rear is the hot ticket
