Default Project base cart

My dad recently moved to the country and wants to get a golf cart to put a lift on. I don't know anything about them and was wondering if someone could share some insight on what would be the best golf cart to base a project on. Or, can you point me in the correct direction to find information.

Welcome to the forum rocky_taco....................

Thats hard to say. We really need to know what he will want to do with a cart and how he plans to use it.

Otherwise start out with a basic cart and modify it as needed or go to a golf cart shop and a custom cart can be customized for him.

Welcome,

I would suggest buying something in the mid 90's and up. Most, if not all of the carts mid 90's and up will have plenty of aftermarket goodies you can buy. The older carts have less aftermarket support so they are harder to fix up.

Ezgo PDS cart. Easy to find upgrades for including performance chips. Simple to work on...But, everyone has their favorites

It really depends on what you are going to use it for and what your budget is?

Well, He lives a couple miles from a golf corse that he works at part time. So, driving there will be one thing. It will need lights etc. so he can drive after dark. Then there are some trails through the woods behind his house that would be nice to drive along. I would definitely like to get him a gas cart. He has little to no mechanical skills, so after I get it set up with lift etc. it needs to be reliable. I believe the golf corse he works at uses Yamaha, so that might be something to consider as he could easily find someone to help him with his golf cart should a problem arise. But, I would consider another brand if it’s easier to get parts for or is considered more reliable etc.

There ya go! Yamaha is one of the 3 major makers. Perfect logic with the availability of help and maybe even some service work? I would go with as late model a Yami as you can budget. They made 2 and 4 stroke motors over the years.

i like all of them when it comes to gas, but if hes lookin for something good priced the 90 threw 94 ezgo marathons are hard to beat, they are easy to lift and hard to kill, i have built a many of these marathons and they are tough
and you get about any after market accesseries you want for them
