Leveling out a lifted G16
My mother just bought a G16 that has been lifted and the rear is alot higher than the front. Is there any way to lower the rear to level it out? I was told I could take the shock apart and cut the spring, any other ideas.

Re: Leveling out a lifted G16
Most lifts raise it with brackets to move the shock down. Some use different shocks. Often they are like that with a rear seat to hold the extra weight. Take a look at the rear shocks and see what they have going there for mounting, that is the right way to move them.

It has tabs welded on to a arm. I guess the only way is to move the tab or shorten the shock.

Re: Leveling out a lifted G16
It is a solid axle but the lift has what I call a arm that runs from side to side that the shocks mount to. The shocks mount to the axle on the bottom but this is on the top side of the shock. I think I am going to have to shorten the shock or move the tab.

A bar like this: https://www.eastcoastcarts.com/catal...Carts/6249.htm
I would not mess with the shock you take spring out and you lose travel of the shock. I would take this bar out and drill a hole up more, bend or cut off tabs so it fits if you need to. Better yet drill a series of a few holes so you can adjust height that is what I did when I made my own lift...but not sure its possible with this. |

Yes sho305 that is the bar. I think I am going to cut it off where it mounts to the original shock mount an shorten it about 2"s.

Re: Leveling out a lifted G16
I have the rear portion of that lift laying around in my garage. I'm not going to use it, just don't know what to do with it... I agree, shortening the top and drilling new holes for the mount would help level it out. Just make sure you're not lowering it so much as to make it necessary to shorten the track bar or relocate the track bar mount. Cutting coils off the spring would lower it, but also would increase the spring rate giving a harsh ride.
