Default Mule differential locking rear end

It's been a long time since checking in ........ Too long, Since this is the modified cart section .. and I'm not considering slamming anything to the ground, I figured this would be the place for this question ........

Has anyone ever thought of, or know of anyone that has slipped an early Kawasaki Mule (about a 99 model) rear differential lock rear-end under their carts.

I have a chance to maybe pick one up cheap-cheap ....... as far as fabrication, almost everything I'm doing on mine is Or i going to be fabrication. Plus I'm not planning on getting it with the intention of putting it in my cart (The Mongrel) ................. yet

Just your thoughts as far as this thread goes ......

Someone said something about the Mule rear being wider than a DS rear ?
Can you measure it?

I would measure over all and mount to mount. Then start looking at the mount and placement of the driven clutch....how is that gonna change?
Where are you located?

LOL ....... Like I said, everything on mine is fabrication at this time. That and I don't even know if I'm going to use it on the Mongrel ....... I'm in Florida, and it'll be tomorrow before I'm able to look at it. I'll pass along any info I'm able to harvest ........ but, if there is anyone that has done something like this ........... shout out

Probably never find one cheap cheap, but the ST-480 Workhorse has an on-demand locking rearend.

Thats what this one has and its looking like I can get it for .......... well, a song and a dance. I'll see if I want to throw a bid out there at the last minute

ANYBODY?

another topic, Did I understand someone in here to say that it doesn't matter which way the engine turns (maybe Tom from CCP) ........ That you can switch forward for reverse to adapt to the rotation of the engine? Reason being: There is a running Kawasaki 20 HP I think (water-cooled) in a ball field maintenance vehicle thing, also thats going for SUPER CHEAP and the pulley on the differential is on the drivers side. Right now the high bid is about 100 bucks.

Seems like it would make since and you wouldn't have to switch anything, forward would be reverse and reverse would be forward, unless it was a 2 cycle cart where the motor changes rotation for reverse. (rearend don't shift)

I'm told the only rub on the F/R switch-a-roo is the gear ratios are different. I am reassured that gear oiling is not a problem? But I have not tried it? Yet. I have two late model CW Carryalls sitting here waiting for a motor.

I'm not sure about the mule but the locker on an st480 has hydraulic brakes. If you have to add a master cylinder setup it will be some more work.
