Buy a Beast 48 hunting buggy or build my own?
I am debating on buying a Beast 48 hunting buggy or starting with a stock used cart and building what I want on my own. I am new to the golf cart world so I would like some input on which way would be the most economical. I mainly want a lifted electric hunting buggy,48V with a range around 20 miles. Thanks in advance for your opinions.

Well you can build one a lot cheaper than what they want for them I'll tell you that!
I like the 72 volts and I'll go anywhere any 4x4 48 volt cart will go. The only thing they had on me was they had winches, that is soon going to change though!. Checkout my cart. I had plenty of juice at the end of the day they were out almost. Here are the 48 volt 4x4 I rode with all day. |

Re: Buy a Beast 48 hunting buggy or build my own?
Thanks, I pretty much figured I could build one cheaper. They actually build them (the Beast) right down the road from where I live. I think I will pick up a used cart in Augusta and get started pretty soon. I'm sure I will have some technical questions in the process. What motor are you using on your cart?

The orignal motor is a D&D but I just got it back from PQ. They rebuilt it and it's faster with more torque than before.
Stock rear end also in mine! I went everywhere they did and just as fast. |

You can still buy the beast look off thier ebay store and have just about anything i see on those carts. I added it up a few days ago with enay pricing and it still was cheaper to DIY. I was just attracted to the beast seats. Buy off ebay pick up in eastman store.

Those are good looking, bolsters, I'll give 'em that! I ended up with a pair of desk chairs from Office Depot. They are nice and cushy! ( anyone need chair casters, leveler assemblies, height cylinders?)I have the Beast bull bar and clays basket on my cart. I like them both a lot. I wish there were a pair of perpendicular braces on the bottom, but the mesh hasn't broken yet.

Re: Buy a Beast 48 hunting buggy or build my own?
My father in law has a beast 48. It has some serious torque. We ride it all day mudding and never have any problems getting stuck, yet. The only issues (other than price) is the basket on the top makes it rock back and forth too much. I see stress cracks in the future. Also the battery compartment was covered in mud. The controller was a mess. Needs better protection in the rear wheel wells. Other than that it is a "beast" to drive. It would be cheaper to build it yourself though. I have a PDS cart and am slowly building it up. Will have less money in it than my father in law does in his beast.
