Any reason to avoided lifting a 6-passenger cart for the woods?

Hi guys, I might be scoring a good deal on a 6-passenger Yamaha G14-G16 from a local dealer. Looks to be pretty solid just needs a rear seat, some engine work, and a little lovin'. As well as a lift kit and 22" tires of course :)

Aside from the obvious (overall length, long wheel-base [gets to be an issue with ground clearance of course], etc.) is there any reason why I should avoid building one of these for some trails? My goal is to load something like this up with 4 people, and carry a big tent and camping gear in the back and maybe on the roof, and hit some trails to do some camping and such. Any opinons would be great!

The only con would be the ease with which it could be rolled.
A friend of mine a 6" lifted cart with 12" wheels and it can feel very unstable at times.
The solution would be to customize the lift kit to give yourself a wider wheelbase, but if you're a responsible driver you don't have to worry a whole lot. It sounds like it would be an awesome cart. :)

Yammies have steel frames, right? I sure wouldn't do that with a Club Car. The flexing on a frame that long from uneven terrain would probably break it. My only remaining issue would be all those other people. LET 'EM GET THEIR OWN CART!

I see a lot of stretched Hummer limos but I never see one out in the woods?
I wonder why all the most successful 4X4s are short wheel based, like Jeep, Bronco, & Toyota?

Yamis are a steel tube frame. I see not reason not to do this As a trail cart, a limo is not your best choice due to turning radius and as you mentioned, ground clearance.
Once you put the lift on it with the bigger tire and wheels, you may want to look into some tourqe and braking tweaks since you want to carry 4 people.

Hey guys thanks for the info! Yeah I'm not really planning on taking something like this (if I build one, of course) on narrow trails or anything. I'd intend to find wider ATV trails and all... but not so much narrow trails, as I kind of accidentally suggested in my original post.

I know obviously shorter wheel bases are best for off-road, but I just think it'd be much more fun to load up 3 friends and camping equipment and hit some "friendly" trails. Not trying to maneuver through/over difficult obstacles and such.

And yeah my buddies are too cheap to get their own toys, so being the nice guy that I am, this is what I'm possibly looking at building haha :)

Oh, and looking at gas-powered, by the way. One of the ones I'm looking at has the engine still in it, and looks to be in good shape externally, just not sure what might be wrong with it. It's missing the rear axle though, but I can just grab an axle of a 2-seater G14 gas cart and it looks like it's a direct replacement.
