Default Clays Cart Build/Advice

Hey Guys,

I just found this site while looking for some advice. My son and I have become avid shotgunners and have been attending numerous sporting clays events. I'm considering buying a cart and customizing it to my needs (or having it done).

I'm interested in opinions on 36 vs. 48 as well as brand comparison for what I am doing with it.

I'm looking at hauling a maximum of 4 people, with 4 guns and a couple of cases of ammo and a few shooters bags (I'm guessing 800 lbs.). Most often it wouldn't be that much, but occasionally it would. I don't need 4WD as most all of the carting would be done on dirt/rock cart paths and shouldn't be too hairy. I also duck hunt and would like to use it to get to some of my holes, but these too are fairly easy trails that aren't too muddy or wet.

I'm looking at the possiblity a 6" lift with either 10 or 12 inch wheels, a cargo basket for the front, fold down rear seat, 4 spots for guns, a place to put a cooler for drinks.

Of the major brands, is there one that stands over the others in regards to the frame being better suited to these builds?

With these parameters, where should I start? Thanks for any help.

If you used a Limo ( 4 seats facing forward ) then you could use the bag well for the gun racks and a basket behind the rear seat for a cooler. A front rack for shells and clays.
Just a thought and also I prefer gas, but to each his own.

I like that rig. Do you have more pictures of it, as well as model specs? Although, I am a little worried about the length. Sometimes in these shoots, you need to turn around and head the other direction on narrower cart paths.

Any of the 3 major makers would suit your needs. Ezgo, Club Car, or Yamaha. The Club Car has An aluminum frame which makes it about 200 lighter to start with but these frames are also subject to stress cracks. Use which ever cart is more predominant in your area, it will be the least expensive and parts the most readily available.
Also do not go too big on the tires, it robs the carts of needed torque, which you will need when you add the rear seat and extra passengers.
23" is the biggest I would recommend + 22 is better.

Here's my build thread,( Building A Lifted Limo Yamaha ) Its 10.5 ft long so it don't turn sharp but its got a lot of room. I'm getting ready to put a Jakes long travel on the front with disc brakes and in the winter I'm doing a 992cc 32 hp swap also.

Hope this helps some, LURCH!!!!!
