Re: 25" to the bottom of floor (project)
The "early" resistor cart chassis I used had no provision for the electronics board so I did a little "engineering".......
In the next pic you can see that I mounted my 48 to 12 volt reducer on the left aluminum panel and my fuse panel on the right hand one...... |

Interesting, I had a 99 CC that I thought about converting at one time but never did... I am more interested in the 3 point link you made for the rear of the cart though. What size springs did you buy, brand and what is the weight they will carry? OH and what part of TX are you from?

In reverse order: North Central TX (between Stephenville and Granbury). The "springs" are coil over shocks and they are Fox brand...I don't know the specs, sorry. I do have the coil overs that came with the Jakes kit and would be willing to sell them. |

Well it seems to be supporting the weight of the batteries, nope have a set of the Jake's on my cart. There has been discussion on what you are doing would be ok with a electric cart. Are these the same shocks that are ebay?

Re: 25" to the bottom of floor (project)
Actually they are take offs from the local MC shop.........I was told they came off a pretty high end quad. I thought about calling Fox to see if they could tell me what spring rates (in pounds) they have but I motored it around the yard today and I can tell it is softer riding than it was with the 8" A Arm lift and HD rear leaf springs. If I had to venture (I used to be into rock crawlers) I would say that it is pretty good for what I intend to use it for.

Re: 25" to the bottom of floor (project)
Well I found out that one of the shochs had a stess related issue (the hard way). Broke the left rear shock right at the bottom mount where the threads ended..........
I ordered another set like the fronts today off of EGAY and should be back up and running by mid week. I am using the next couple of days to disassemble and paint all the suspension parts and build the rear battery supports for three 12 volt golf cart batteries between the frame rails. It will be a real lesson in spacial relationships! At 48 volts with strong batteries and the ADC torque motor I got 30mph uphill (slight grade) yesterday, which was how she has always ran with the 25" AT489's and low pressure but I am doing the "BYPASS" for a total of 84 volts! Like it was it pulled the front wheels just off the ground from a stand still so this should get interesting......... By the way this thing handles SO MUCH BETTER than it did with the leaf spring front and rear suspension! |

Cool build Would love to see more on how you built the rear suspension. I have been thinking about putting a Jake's kit on my precedent, but I like your set up on the rear alot better than having the leaf springs on it. Like you said the ride quality, especially over rough terrain, must be greatly improved. Can't wait to see more.

Those are the same shocks I'm running on the front of my cart I think. Just put mine on yesterday and have to tinker with the adjustment but are MUCH better than the shocks that came with my Jakes LT.
