Default Honda 24hp Exhaust problem

1993 EZGO, w/ Honda 24hp gx670 it backfires and loses power after I run at full throttle. I feather the accelerator and then it runs good and clears up but starts up again with the problem at full throttle. Cleaned carburator-no issues. It's stock exhaust & it gets very hot. I think exhaust stays trapped in the engine compartment. Does anyone know if the exhaust would cause this?

Stock honda exhaust or stock cart exhaust? Yes sounds lean does it have the stock muffler and airbox/etc on the engine....you change any of that you have to re-jet them. Take a plug out and check the color range, there are many pages on the net will show you how to read a plug. Run it hard and stop, check the plug. If lean it will be white or near white.

OR, you are running out of fuel for some reason....you have low fuel flow. Is your tank properly vented that can cause it. If it has a pulse pump where is the pulse hooked in?

It has original Honda exhaust & air filter. I did a comp check one cylinder has 90 psi & one has 120psi I'm thinking it could be a tight vavle the motor only has 77hrs on it. What do you guys think?
