Default Lifting a Yamaha G9

I want to lift my G9, any sugestions? not looking to spend a ton of money and I just use it around the yard and some trails on the property, Just want to get it up higher and a softer ride. I was thinking econo lift and sahara 22x11x8 wheels and tires.

IMO the suspension is not the place to save money. Could be dangerous. I like the Jake's....Yamaha approved.

There is nothing wrong with an "Econo-Lift" for average use. They are very durable and dependable. The ride will soften with some larger tires,as long as you don't get a tire such as a All-Trail,they are quite stiff.A regular Knobby-Tread 22"x11"-8"/10" will give a nice ride, good handling and great all-around traction, but still easy on your lawn.I build a heavy-duty lift for Yamahas' and it is still using all-original suspension parts,it just relocates them, similar to a "econo" set-up.Hope this helps.

I've never been the type to buy the latest and greatest thing because everyone says "its' the only way to go".If you are just bombing around your backyard, why drop $1000 on a high-tech,high-travel suspension that you will never be able to justify the cost or advantages over a cheaper lift?We do alot of trail-riding on our property, but it still isn't worth the extra-expense.I believe in "If it works,Don't change it".

He is right an econo lift will work for just driving/putting around. It will not be nice if you get aggressive, but way better than no lift for sure. I'd say there is an advantage to running a lift that clears 22s and running atv rated tires that don't get punctures. Lot more tires to choose from too, and offset wheels are much more stable. Beyond that its all about speed offroad, the more you want the better the suspension needs to be. Cheaper lifts still have the same suspension travel as stock, only reason it rides better is because the larger diameter tire rolls over things easier/smoother.

I had an econo lift fail years ago. The front shock top bracket bent upwards on both sides causing the tires to hit the body. Average trail riding, same happen to a couple others at our camp ground.
