Vapor locking
I have an ez go with the 24hp Honda it has factory exhaust & air filter & at full throttle when it's hot will lose power & start to back fire, I checked the valve adjustment, spark plugs, carb & fuel pump and every thing checks out, I think it's vapor locking because the air filter is sucking up hot air do to the muffler being so close to the carb . Has anyone every had this problem & what do I do to fix it? I was thinking of putting hoels in the air filer cover

Re: Vapor locking
Here is another thing that I think could be it. My coil I think could be going bad. I checked it out and the two wires comming out of the coil one wire was exposed looking like it was shorting out. just maybe it?

Re: Vapor locking
We checked the coil it's good, today I dynomated the gas tank area, put a bigger hose around the fuel & ran it without the air filter cover and it did a lot better but still started to back fire & lose power but this time it clear up a lot faster so I think I'm on the right track, I'am thinking of getting a cold air intake, maybe you can try running it without the air filter cover, the filter is pretty tight in there won't fall out

Re: Vapor locking
Put some sort of heat shield in between the exhaust and and fuel parts and test again, I have a 18hp briggs that did the same thing, fuel pump was getting too hot from exhaust pipe. Stuck a metal deflector in there and the problem went away, worth a try fellas.........

Re: Vapor locking
That's a good idea I will give it a try. I drilled holes in filter cover help a lot but still does it. I'm thinking maybe the governor is making it do that.
