Default My G1 build

[SIZE="2"]Finally gettin' around to posting a few picks of my first build. Didn't take any picks when I first got it but you can see what color it was. Had stickers all over the body and someone had welded a gear onto the shaft of the differential. Tore it down, cleaned it up and coated the frame with paintable undercoating. Fabbed a 6" lift for it. Though the lift is nice, I'm going to stretch the front 3" and fab new plates to widen it 2".

Swapped out the rearend with a G2, cleaned and painted it and added new shoes. Sanded the rear body and have first coat of primer on. Since the side panels were beat up I add 4" aluminium channel to the sides. Picked up some cool tailights for it.

After installing the rearend I found that the front of the differential hit the original cross member so I cut it out, then cut 2" off each end to retain the bolt holes and welded them into a new location to accommadate my new motor mount (not yet welded up).
Will add more pics as I progress.

Heck ya a G1 build with some G2 parts. I'm all about that. Now don't spoil the surprise of the engine you are going to run.

The motor is a Predator 346cc. I'm having the head milled and adding heavier valve springs, removed the governor, putting on an open air cleaner and Robertson exhaust. Going to do some more checking to see if I can swap out the cam, etc on this motor with the GX340/390 parts.

Thanks Sassy. I built that from the ground up a couple of years ago. Modified the frame, all wiring is hidden and the hydraulic clutch line is hidden in the frame. The swingarm is a modified rubbermount that I redid to fit the shovel style frame. I designed and built the handlebars, seat frame, electical box(hidden behind tranny) and did all the mods to the fenders and frame. Fun to build and nice to ride.

Will be posting a few more pics later. Just got done cuttin' off the front of the frame and going to stretch it 3"-4". Will be building another 6" lift for the front that will widen the front 2". Also redesigning the steering arm/hub setup. Never did like the idea of having 6" extensions on them for the tie rods. Seems like it would have too much flex.

Cut the front clip off, cut 2-12" lengths of 1 1/2" tubing and inserted them into the frame. Then slid the front clip back on until the tubes were seated all the way in. Checked several times to make sure that the sides were even and then tacked everything up. Rechecked to make sure nothing moved and then welded things up. Ground the welds and then rewelded for strength.
