Question Best/Most needed upgrades...?

Okay, I have been reading the forum for a few weeks , and need some advice. I have a '99 Ezgo /TXT 36 volt cart. I am looking to use for both hunting and golfing. Have ordered camo vinyl wrap to install...What are the best options for dual use..?

With a dual use you have to build for the heavier task. If you build a cart to go to the mail box 364 days a year and climb a mountain once a year. It will fail on the mountain unless you build it to climb the mountain and use it to go to the mailbox the other 364 days a year.

Yes,.. I am wanting suggestions on where to begin,,,,tires,lift..?
Plan I had in mind,,was to lift and then have 2 sets of wheels/tires... or should I begin looking for another cart strictly for hunting..?

By hunting I mean on trails and such, not rock climbing or heavy mudding.

I like the quietness and carrying capacity for my wife and I to ease around the woods in. Thanks.

I would just buy a second cart if i were you. way less hassle but if you really wanna swap tires and all that good stuff, just get some 20in tires for hunting. they will fit a stock txt. Id probably go ahead and upgrade to thicker wire and hd solenoid too. Does your cart have the f/r button on the dash or does it have a handle by your legs? also does it have a run/tow switch?

F/R switch is below legs..it does have a tow/run switch..20 inch tires look good but Do you have a problem with those rubbing..?

ok since its dcs, u should be good with just the hd solenoid and 4g wires. They only rubbed a couple of times when I hit a big bump while the wheel was fully turned. They also make a 20inch turf tire that could be used dual purpose, on and off road and they may even let you use it on the golf course....may be a good solution where you wont have to swap tires out.

in your hunting endeavors will there be hills? big long hills?

power upgrades are just eliminating amperage bottlenecks; first its best to get larger ga.power cables (battery cables,for./rev cables, motor controler and motor cables must be changed) then the next bottleneck is forward reverse switch. these two upgrades are not that pricy and will increase reliability and noticeable gain of torque of cart.
then you could go with lower gear set to bring torque back to were it was with stock size tires.
just remember gain torque= loose top speed
loose torque= gain top speed in equal percentage

so if top speed is not a concern only towing, heavy loads and climbing hills you could go with tires and gear change but it is about $300-$260 for gear set.
that tire set gotmud posted is great for dual duty! aired down @10psi you can do some good trail riding/hunting with those tires and on the 8" rims you have good amount of pneumatic suspension. also he (gotmud) just showed me in a post today how to raise 1999 txt 2'' for FREE!!!

or go 48 volt at next batt. change

but yeah.... it never really ends

Thanks for the advice and link on the tires!!!

not many hills but a few..hunt in an old oil field so good roads, And the trails are kept pretty clean...

yea I have acquired some 2/0 cable from a construction job electrician friend of mine already. I Don't want to get too agressive too fast,,,,LOL!!

If I could find me a decent 48v fixer-upper...well that would be a different story!!
