Default Questions From New Guy On Hunting Buggy

Hello All,

I am a complete virgin to the golf cart world. I know i want a Club Car for the aluminum frame but I am stuck on the difference (besides the obvious) between the 36 and 48 volt models. I have heard that the EZGO's are pretty modifiable as well. Would a Club Car or EZGO be better? I also know from what I have read that I do not want a resistor bank model but a model that uses the controller. What year is the cut off for the resistor bank models?

The plan is to build this into a hunting buggy with a lift and most likely 22 to 23 inch tires. I hope to find an inexpensive unit that needs batteries so I am starting fresh. What would be the better voltage for my application 36 vs 48 Volts? I do plan on upgrading the motor etc in the future but I'm looking to get the right model from the begining and not fool around and wish I had gone a different route with a different model.

So in short:

- What are the differences between the 36 and 48 Volt?
- What year did the resistor bank models change over to the controller?
- What would be the best for my application, 36 or 48 Volt?
- Club Car or EZGO?

Thank You in advance for your input and guidance.

So in short:

- What are the differences between the 36 and 48 Volt? 12 volts
- What year did the resistor bank models change over to the controller? First ESC appeared in 1993. Last resistor coil produced in 2003
- What would be the best for my application, 36 or 48 Volt? I like the older 36v carts converted to 48v
- Club Car or EZGO? Either is good , CC is lighter, which is better for steeper or wetter terrain.

Thank You in advance for your input and guidance.

Thanks for the reply scottyb. I knew there would be a wise crack at the voltage question. What I'm trying to figure out is the difference. Some people say that 36v gives you further distance while 48v gives more torque. There are many conflicting statments regarding this.

I have read and read but I just can't find the perfect thread yet....guess I'll keep at it.

Thanks
