mpnoffi's build - TXT on 25's
I've posted a couple of these pics on another thread, but didn't want to thread jack so I thought I'd start a small build thread here to keep up with the changes I'll be making to the cart.
I picked this cart up for $400 off of craigslist. It needed new leafs front and rear, the front axel was bent, the batteries and cables were weak and the solenoid was shot. The body was not in great shape, but it's all pretty easily repairable. Mostly just scratches. Here is how she looked the morning after picking her up... I started planning for a build that would allow me to lift the cart and add some pretty big meats and still be able to tackle some hills both on and off road, but nothing TOO serious. Mostly the cart will be used in my neighborhood carrying beer back and forth to my buddies house (thatguyjake on here). Other than beer duty and transportation to get my family to the neighborhood pool during the summer, it will see some moderate trail use. I started with all new electrics from ScottyB. Great service/great guy. I went with Alltrax AXE 4855 programmable 500 amp controller, with super HD solenoid, HD F&R, 2 ga cables and a new set of Trojan T-105's. After installing everything, but still on stock 18" wheels, I was seeing the stock 12ish MPH that I should expect from a stock series cart, but it slows WAY down in my hilly subdivision. After a visit to the EZGO diagnostic sticky thread, I discovered that my ITS throttle sensor was adjusted properly, but not sending a full signal to the controller. New ITS is on its way from China. Should be here sometime before April...hopefully they meant this year... So everything electric on this cart is now new, shy of the motor. I plan to add 2 batteries and cables and take the stock motor to 48v. If that doesn't satisfy me, I'll go Plum Quick or D&D, EMP etc...depending upon Scottyb's recommendations. Next came the lift. I thought I would give the 6" TYSE eBay lift a try. At $155 it was definitely worth a try based upon the type of use this thing will see. So far, it seems like pretty good stuff. The front axel was just as heavy as the stock axel I took off. As far as the rear, I cant tell that anyone's lift would be any better. Because my springs were completely shot, I also added the EZGO 2" midrise kit. Local dealer hooked me up for $130. Included HD rear springs, 2 extended shocks/boots/bushings and regular duty springs up front. Because of the HD springs, my lift is off a little a she sits about 2" higher in the back. I'm currently chasing down a way to lift the front 1-2" to even things out a bit. Next came the wheels/tires. I wanted a big cart look and lots of clearance, so I went with ITP ss108 wheels in the 12x7 size with a 2+5 offset to help the tires to clear the body. Found them on Amazon for $240 with free shipping and no tax! I then ordered a set of 25x8x12 front and 25x10x12 rear Black Widows by AMS from a local ATV shop. Together, I only have $540 in the set. I really like the look of this combo. They are surprisingly quiet and smooth for such an aggressive tread. The fit is fine, except the front drivers tire can get tangled in the brake linkage if I turn too far to the left. I have a set of high Strength 7075-T6 Aluminum black anodized 2" wheel spacers for the front on the way to help remedy that. They should be here Friday! I still want to find a way to go up another 1-2" on the front as well. Future plans will include 48v conversion, some type of rear seat, maybe a combo seat/bed deal, and paint of course. Then I plan to strip it down to the frame and clean everything up and paint the frame to keep rust at bay. Might look at replacing the roof with a low profile roof rack of some sort eventually. I'm having a ball with the new hobby. These buggies are a lot of fun. Thanks for tuning in. I'm sure I'll have lots of questions along the way. Let me know if anyone has any questions, thoughts or advice. thanks! mpnoffi |

Re: Q
Does anyone have any advice on how well this will work? I'm shooting for another 1-2" on the front to level my cart. Pic lifted from another build thread on here. My springs are on top of the axel of course...

Blocks should be ok as long as you fill safe riding. I personally like how it looks with the front down a little. Read and FOLLOW those instructions on the wheel-spacers. You'll be singing "You Picked A Fine Time To Leave ME Loose-Wheel"

Lift it with a hockey puck. A puck is 1.5 inches thick and 3 inches round. Drill the holes you need and place them between the springs and axle.

Re: mpnoffi's build - TXT on 25's
Thanks Todd and Un.
I may try the puck thing Boke. I could probably add 1.5" in the front of the spring over the axel and 1.5 in the back of the spring between the body and spring to offset sothe tie rods don't rub the springs. Not sure how much lift that would yield. Thoughts? My spacers came in today. They look great and made the stance exactly what I hoped for. Only, they made the problem worse! still rubs on the brake linkage and now they rub on the fender when I load the springs while turning. |

Re: mpnoffi's build - TXT on 25's
Thanks Heavy.
Thatguyjake and I got the cart buttoned up this weekend. We used 2"x2" square tubing spacers between the front leaf spring and body/frame. I've ordered a set of 3.5" shock extensions for the front shocks. Should have them tomorrow. Then we put 1"x2" tubing between the front leaf spring and the drop axle. Both spacers were 3" long with a 7/16" hole drilled 5/8" from the back edge and centered from side to side. This yielded 3 1/4" of additional lift so that nets 9.25" in front and 8" in the back. She sits pretty level now. Still have a little tweaking to do on the front end to get everything lined up again. I really like the stance now. I received my new ITS sensor today so I'll be installing it and my shock extensions tomorrow. Getting close to a major clean up and some paint...that is ...if I can resist the 48v bug! thanks noffi |

Re: mpnoffi's build - TXT on 25's
Great thread, this helped me alot I was going to order the allsport 5 high lift and seen this and called and talked to Jake at TYSE and he met me Saturday morning and opened up and sold me the lift. having my blocks for the front made now, this was helpful on what size blocks. I have 26" kenda bearclaws and they dont measure that tall, how tall are your 25" sit mounted.
