Re: lift my g1 yamaha
Lifting the rear is a piece of cake. The front is a another story. All you do for the rear is make shock extentions. For the front you will have to drop the A arms, shock mounts and possible steering extentions depending on how high you go. There is going to be some math involved... possible welding and some fab skills will be helpful. You will need the steel also. Here is a few pics to give you an idea.

Field hit it right on the head. The back is cake but the front is more work. Several low cost lifts available thru site sponsers and you may want to do a "search" for the Pachanga Lift. It is very popular among the Yamaha group.Good luck and you'll find everyone here very helpful.

Re: lift my g1 yamaha
I built my 5" lift based on the Pachanga lift which is all over these threads. I wanted to buy one from him but he is busier than a double peckered goat! I have about $60.00 in mine and some time. You can see what I did at "Another G1 Rebuild". Good luck!

Re: lift my g1 yamaha
After thinking about it $60.00 doesn't include some parts I ordered to do the tie rods and steering knuckles. My best guess is you would have to budget about $100 and be able to weld or have a buddy who can. Having some scrap 1/4" mild steel laying around would help that number a lot.

Pachanga, Can't wait to see them! I went exactly 5" on mine and am using the front Honda shocks all the way around. I may have to tweek the rear height by an inch but not sure yet. Lots of time re-inventing the wheel in my lift!

Re: lift my g1 yamaha
Pachanga, been wondering how the lift kit was coming. I built mine with 6" of lift and 2" wider. Like abieex stated, close to $100 in it after all is tallied up.
The lift isn't that hard to build if you can weld and drill a few holes. It took more time to round up material and parts. |
