Need Help with Allsports SS 6" Double A-Arm Lift
Got my lift today and I'm just getting into the rear installation on my '87 Club Car gas and I think they sent me some wrong parts. According to the only (rear) picture in the instructions (which doesn't even look like my setup) I should have 4 square-hoop u-bolts. They only gave me a total of two u-bolts and they're way too big. They're too big in that they're too wide for the mounting holes (u-bolts are bigger than the plate) and they're also way wider than the leaf spring. And they're also too big in thread size, they won't fit through the holes that the stock u-bolts fit through.
Unless I'm totally missing something. Like I said the instructions aren't very good. No diagrams or anything, just a numbered list of things to do and not very descriptive. To add insult to injury, the girl even asked me what size t-shirt I wanted because they took 4 days to ship it (I ordered it 12/26) and there was no **** t-shirt in the box either. One of the two u-bolts I got. Too wide for the leaf. Another view. |

Re: Need Help with Allsports SS 6" Double A-Arm Lift
You will have to enlarge the holes in your spring perch. That part has been mentioned in just about all lift kits I've read about.
As for the U bolt, you're trying to install it wrong. It goes diagonally from one front hole to one rear hole on your spring perch, not straight across like you are trying. Which ones are up to you, but I personally would use the inside front and outside rear holes so that you'll have more room for the brake cables if you ever need to work on them. I hope this helps, -Scott H. P.S. I think there is supposed to be a top plate that goes between the spring and U Bolt that serves as a shock mount. Last edited by Scott H.; 01-07-2013 at 11:58 PM.. I'm not familiar with 87 CC's but the lift for my '99 came with 2 u-bolts per side for the rear. There were also 2 metal plates for each side, one for above the axle and one below, each plate with 4 holes in it. You then put the u-bolt through the top and bottom plates and sandwich the axle in. Here are pics of mine for reference... It's a little dirty

Actually, after looking at the picture on this thread:
http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/lifte...ar-lift-2.html You might want to reverse what I said about the mounting location. You might want to use the OUTSIDE FRONT and INSIDE REAR to mount the U Bolt. In that pic, it shows the U Bolt right next to the shock mount, which would provide better support for the mount. -Scott H. |

Re: Need Help with Allsports SS 6" Double A-Arm Lift
Thanks for the info so far. I thought about the diagonal mount, but the instructions don't say a darn thing about it and I just thought it seemed insufficient to have just one u-bolt per side. Plus the pic they used in my instructions looks like mndaniel's setup. I'm going to call them today. I received no plates to go between the u-bolt and leaf spring and they are mentioned in the instructions.
Man those front leaf spring bolts were ridiculously hard to remove. I had to drop the engine cradle to the floor in order to have room to swing the hammer. |

Re: Need Help with Allsports SS 6" Double A-Arm Lift
Here's a pic of my buddies 94 with a 7.5 AS SS lift:
This was before AS changed to the 4 U bolt set up for the Super Sport lifts! He beats the cr*p out of his cart, and the single U bolt is holding up just fine! And also... Shocks mount on the existing stud, with extensions on the top of the shock! Hope this helps! |

Re: Need Help with Allsports SS 6" Double A-Arm Lift
If they changed to a 4-bolt setup for each side on the SS kits than I should have 4 bolts since mine is a brand new SS kit (?). Unless I read your post wrong and you mean they only changed it for the 7.5" and up kits. I don't mind having one bolt per side, I'm not going to beat on the cart that hard.
I definitely was not sent my cart's version of that two hole spring plate/shock mount for the u-bolt atop the leaf spring(s). I sure hope they can expedite them to me. Since my cart is an '87, my spring plate has to accept an eyelet-mount shock like the one in the pic that Scott H. posted (which is an '84). It sure would be nice if they had a simple parts list in the box so one could make sure all parts were there before tearing the cart down. |

Re: Need Help with Allsports SS 6" Double A-Arm Lift
To be honest... the 4 U bolt kit may be just for 97+ carts...
When I went from the 2 U bolt to the 4 U bolt set up on my 07, I was told they were a new design for the SS lifts 8 months after I/we put the 7.5 lift on my buddies 94! Hopefully, CPP can get you those U bolt plates asap! Note: instructions for almost ALL lift kits are limited with info, and have a lot to be desired! |

Re: Need Help with Allsports SS 6" Double A-Arm Lift
I'm only posting this picture here so that I can send a link to this entire thread to the Tech guy (Steve) at AllSports. I'm also missing one of the nuts pictured below. I talked to a girl this morning and she said she'd have Steve call me back.
