How to tell if you have positive traction
Bought my cart earlier this year for hunting. Had the builder put in a limited slip/positive traction kit. A few months later I installed 2 new gears in the rear for more torque. Unfortunately, the gears didn't mesh well and made a lot of noise for hunting. Called the builder back and he assured me that he could put a set of gears in that wouldn't make noise. Wrong. So I told him to put the original gears back in my rear, which I had taken to him. He decided to just put a different rear on so he wouldn't have to take the gears out. Last week while hunting I got on a muddy hill and only one side was pulling. Without taking the rear apart, how can you tell if the package is installed? See if both sides turn when you jack it up????

Re: How to tell if you have positive traction
You no longer have your limited slip! Both wheels should have turned in the mud. I'd go back and get your original rear axle that you put those parts in! Someone familiar with " rears&gears " should be able to set that up so it's as quiet as church on monday morning!

Re: How to tell if you have positive traction
Let me clarify the situation. I was on an incline and I slid into a shallow trench with my left tire slanting the cart to the left.
Yesterday I jacked the rear end up, both tires rolled in the same direction by hand rolling the tires both forward and reverse. Same thing happened when I pressed the pedal in both forward and reverse. I'm thinking maybe he did put the package in????? |

Re: How to tell if you have positive traction
It sounds like he put it in. Posi will only match the friction of the faster spinning tire.
If stuck with bearly any bite on one side the posi wont pull you out. |
