Default Paint

Not sure if this was the right place to post this.
I am getting ready to paint the top/canopy of my cart. What have you guys had good luck with to get the paint to stick to the plastic? Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

rb, if you'll go a couple headings down from Lifted Carts to Design Center then body and paint you'll find all the info you need. In fact, I think theres a Sticky on this exact question. Good luck and come back if you don;t get the info you need.

Scuff it with a red scotch pad and then use Bulldog promoter on it before you paint it. Bulldog will make the paint stick like glue

I used bulldog on my last cart, and didnt have good results. Paint would scratch right off. After reading some in the paint and body thread, sounds like timing is the key after applying the adhesion promoter, I think maybe I waited to long to paint it.

Just saw your from Kzoo, im from Portage!

Yep I'm over in Comstock.

I used the bulldog and haven't had a issue. Just followed the direction on the can and was good to go...

A search will turn up a ton of info on this with varying methods. My carts roof is textured, so I took a red scotch brite pad and scuffed it up the best I could and then used some adhesion promoter and then hit it with a few coats of Krylon Fusion paint. I actually had a bug land in it while it was drying and waited a day to sand him out to recoat. I was surprised how much it took to sand him out. That was a few years ago and it still looks great.

Dont seem to be much traffic over in the paint section. If you guys get a chance, head over there and read about my problems. I am still having trouble getting the paint to stick!!
