Lift kit, and wheel/tire upgrade...Need suggestions, and info.
Ok we just got this cart yesterday. It is a Yamaha g2 gas. I'm going to do some more research today, and figure out which year exactly. First things first. We want to put a lift on it, but not sure how much of a lift we need, or type. Mainly we just want it lifted for the bigger tires, and slightly more ground clearance. So the cheapest lift that still is safe and works good would be alright with me. Next not sure which size tires. I'm sure part of it goes along with the lift size, but I want something that is gonna get some traction on slick inclines. I don't really care much about the wheels. Just kinda looking for a package deal for the lift,wheels/tires. Let me know what you guys recommend. We have pretty nice trails, some are decently steep hills, and can get slick in the rain, and winter. We don't have much trouble making it up them on a 2wd 4wheeler. Not sure how the cart will compare to that. Links to stuff you recommend would be great. Thanks a bunch guys. Look forward to reading your thoughts.

There is a variety of quality lifts available to you. Some of the names are Jakes, Allsport but my favorite is the Pachanga lift. I'm sure Pachanga will chime in cause I hear his lift kit is near ready for market. I built mine but if you purchase it you save some time. I liked the Pachanga cause It allowed me a 5" lift and the re-use of all my stock parts although I got crazy and changed everything anyway. The lifts I mentioned are good quality and above all safe. Please visit my thread at "Another G1 Rebuild" as I'm a relative noob as well. Welcome!

As a side note, you may want to consider a Plowmans performance secondary clutch kit if your dealing with bigger tires and steep hills. Don Plowman is the Yamaha clutch guru and a site sponsor. Great guy to talk to.

Like I said this stuff is all new to me....lol What exactly will the clutch kit you speak of do? How much is it? I've done clutches in a 5-speed car, but don't really know about this golf cart thing...lol Also what is the best bang for the buck lift kit? I'm trying to do this on a budget. I'm thinking either 22 or 23" tires. I'm not sure what size lift I will need to obtain the clearance for those sizes.

Ok I understand that part. Is this what your talking about? If not how much does the clutch kit cost? Is it hard to install.

Yep, thats what we're talking about. I suggest you get it from Plowman cause he will set it up for what your going to do with the cart, wheel size etc. He also balances the cluth before you get it. He also has a performance kit which includes the clutch, better exhaust and new jets for the carb. With larger tires this is all money well spent. Check out my build at the "Another G1 Rebuild" in this section and you will see the Plowman setup as well as a 5" lift designed by Pachanga and 22" wheels/tires. Maybe something there to give you ideas.

I was out riding in the snow yesterday, and it got stuck a couple times. Only the passenger side wheel was spinning.....Is that normal? Would the clutch kit help that out? Or is there another problem causing only 1 wheel to spin?

Just like a car, you only have one drive tire unless you have some form of posi-traction or electronic drive control. The rear can be "locked up" but that has its problems as well. It all comes down to what your going to do with the cart.
