Default "Salty Sam's Special" Six Seat Marathon Salvage and Lift

This poor cart has been sitting for 5 years waiting for me. My friend Toni here thinks a stripper pole on a golf cart would be a great idea!

The cart must be stripped first. Salty Sam was a drunken sailor that thought his cart could cross Estero Bay at low tide. The result was rust and a dead cart. This is going to need some new steel.

Man, it takes "a pair" to save that instead of parting it out to build another one from a nicer cart! Best of luck and keep posting pics!

That looks like it could be fun when you finish. As for the pole, I have a 4 ft by 4 ft stage with a stainless 8 ft pole that should fit between the front and rear seats on my cart (I had planned to make the center seat removable). It can still happen, and would only take about an afternoon of fabrication. There are pics of the stage I built in my build thread for the cart. Link is in my sig. Good luck with your project!

Like Salty Sam himself, this cart is well seasoned. It spent it's first life hualing drunken shrimpers from the docks to the strip bar and it may have served as a bed a time or two. In order to get things square again, I slapped a level on everything and and with new bushings measured from the center of my spring pins on the rear to the center of the front spring mount holes and then criss crossed measured.

Cut away the crust and burn in some new steel and soon I may have the running gear ready to roll again. I took some measurements from the battery tabs, it was a consistant 10 1/4" from each tab to the edge of the strip that the battery fascia mounts to.

I Thank Jay Stewart and the guys from A Plus Carts on Fort Myers Beach for trusting this Michigan farm boy enough and letting me build a toy for them. This classic cart will get a new life in wealthy gated communities like Gulf Harbor Resort and as a parade rental. yep.

Because of the Shrimp festival on Fort Myers Beach, I had a little less time this weekend to work on the cart. I did managed to get the siderails mounted to the frame. Starting to look better.
