92 Marathon arched leaf spring lift project.
Hard to believe this lawnmower looking f***n thing is going to save me money in gas. Looks more like a money pit! The price of just a basic lift is pretty high for what you get. I am going to crossbreed some parts and relocate the spring mounts to get some lift! I should be able to get about 4" of lift out of the springs for the front. There is tons of battery room here if you just relocte a few parts. I don't golf so the bagwell is a great spot for a single battery and more. Nine T-875 batteries should give me the potental to hurt myself severely. What the heck! I could get killed crossing the street, right?

Re: 92 Marathon arched leaf spring lift project.
The bottom leaf spring is stock marathon, The middle spring is for salty sams spread and is a spring for a E-Z-Go G&E 2001-04 that I added a third leaf to for a bit more support. The top spring with the arch is a EVE or a Fairplay spring that I will be using for my lift. I went ahead and built the battery frame. 1x1x3/16 angle. It took the whole 20' stick of it to build.

Re: 92 Marathon arched leaf spring lift project.
You will like the look with the longer spring. The 88'-94' Marathons use a 2" shorter spring than the 87'-older Marathons, and 4" shorter than Medalist/TXT."Flipping" the rear axle under the springs will cover the rear-lift,you may need a spacer-block in between the spring and axle to level it,depending on how it sits with the new fronts. How much arch do those Fairplay springs have?If you set the axle pad-end flat on a table, measure up to the rear tip from the table.Looks like you have access to a spring-shop.I work for one locally here.

Re: 92 Marathon arched leaf spring lift project.
Pach, I work for Kone Elevator. The background you see in the pics is A-Plus Carts, Fort Myers Florida. The springs pictured are out of box unless I modify them myself. I don't think I am going to need to visit state spring for any golf cart springs. No blocks for the rear/ no flipping the axle on the top of the spring, This Marthond axle is under the spring already and Im not going to use rear blocks. The spring mounts will be removed and rewelded to the frame to give me the desired lift in the rear. the fairplay springs are single leaf and have a 5" drop in the arch. Gas shocks are also used on the eve/fairplay. I will find some monroe gas shocks to fit when I get that far.. it is just setting on the springs in this photo.

I was refering to the springs that you added a leaf, did you just cut-down another leaf and stack it?I built my springs at work, they are similar to your FairPlay springs, but we built them to my specs. for height and length.I work at Thru-Way Spring in Rochester,NY.Look up their site, they have pics of the forge-system.

Re: 92 Marathon arched leaf spring lift project.
Oh' I see. I just have access to off the shelf springs. Yes the set that is longer I added a third leaf, it's going on Salty Sam's Marathon. That build is on another thread. I added a second spring to the fairplay springs because the marathon is designed for two leafs not a single and they would not tighten down. I'm not wanting to add a bunch of support. (but it added a little more I'm sure) Fairplay springs and late model EZGO's have a different nose than the stock marathon spring and I will either have to drill a hole for the pin or find a doner ft end. Here is a pic of my doner rear end, a gizzwaldini or whatever from a late model Club Car. This rear end has HD tubes and there are more available motor choices for CC. Oh yeah' and good by rust!

Re: 92 Marathon arched leaf spring lift project.
You won't drill the spring, they are tempered, and very hard.Take it to a spring-shop and have them punch it,or take it to someone with an Iron-Worker,mark the spot, heat the spot cherry-red,punch the hole, and let it air-cool.We do this all the time on heavier spring-steel,it doesn't affect the temper.Nice having a parts-supply on-hand!

Skin/4 on not drilling the spring. I know someone that may have an iron worker or he would know someone that does. Thanks for the info.

Re: 92 Marathon arched leaf spring lift project.
It's been a couple of weeks between posts. I took most of the day last weekend working on the front axle donated from a TXT 94-2000 and the rear Graziano salvaged from a Club Car. I spoke too soon about flipping pads.. I had to flip pads for Both Axles! They turned out very nice don't spare the Ospho!

Re: 92 Marathon arched leaf spring lift project.
After tightening the springs up to the frame and hanging the front axle I noticed that the springs were not hanging even, so I found some nicer shim springs and did some de burring on the ends. An additional whack with the sledge hammer to the drivers side spring mount brought it back to level. I'm happy with it now.
