rim width to tire width?
I have lifted my G9 4" two years ago I think.lol!anyways the original tires are shot and dumb looking.I would like to run a set of 22x11x10 on it.I already have a set of 10" wheels but my concern is they are only 6" wide wheels.would a 10" wide tire be better or do I need to still get new wheels?the wheels already are offset so that's not a big concern.Just wondered if that is too narrow of a wheel?

Re: rim width to tire width?
8 would be better for an 11 inch tire... 6 is kind of narrow

Re: rim width to tire width?
I run 11" wide tires on 7"-wide rims, they sit flat,no crown in the tread.6" with 10" tires may work,it depends on the tire.Mount one and look at it.

Re: rim width to tire width?
I'm running 12 x 7 rims with 24x12x12 tires and the tread is flat. And the side walk of the tire protects the rim!

Re: rim width to tire width?
You could run 8" wide tires some are doing that now, common front size on atv. I wanted 12 wide for floatation and looks, and in sand they work really well. My rims are 8x8 with 22-12s, the widewalls are flat the rim is still inside. But the type of tire the tread is rounded and taller at the center. Supposed to run them at 5psi or something but it slows the cart down too much so I run them little higher.
I don't really want 7 wide rims, these are 3+5 offset so they are 1" wider at the outside making the cart 2" wider and more stable. Not sure what I will find if I get new wheels. |

Re: rim width to tire width?
I think I am going to cut these rims and widen them to 8" and go with a 10" wide tire.I fabricate all the time as a tradesman so I see no issue doing it.should be a fun project to modify these wheels.I have nothing in them as they were free.I guess I shall take some pics as I do it to share.
I guess I need to verify how width is determined. My rim are 6" inside the bead flange to flange.then measure 7" outside lip to outside lip.So witch is it 6" or 7"?I say they are 6" wheels need someone who is in the know to correct me if I'm wrong |
