Anyone ever use these lights?
http://www.jasonsgolfcarts.com/Off_R...p/mjlb8000.htm
I have been thinking something like this would be exactly what I want. And had actually come up with a plan to build a bar. Can you tell me how it attaches, do you think it is sturdy enough to survive a trailering trip, or would I have to contantly take it on and off? Did you run the wiring down the top post, or through it? Does it put off light in the correct place? Meaning, does it shine in the trees randomly or does it put light where it is usable? I know I can call and get the selling answer from Jason, but I am looking for a real world that has used it. It looks sweet, just curious if it works as well as it looks |

Re: Anyone ever use these lights?
I looked at that type for my 96 txt build. Thought the same thing you do. Can I get the lights pointing in the right area? Are they adjustable in the housing? ect.... Would like to hear more also. Subscribed!

Re: Anyone ever use these lights?
I have looked at this lightbar as a possible option for my cart but decided not to purchase it since I don't have a top. My cart has a custom built roll-cage with no top as of yet. If I had a factory style top I would consider purchasing this lightbar.
Some observations I made while viewing this lightbar: it does not fit completely flush to the top which leaves a rough finish, not sure about the mounting hardware but from experience with similar products it probably has double-sided tape or screws, based on the price the lights are most likely lower quality that provide sufficient light but not the brightest light. The lights do not appear to be adjustable since they are mounted in a plastic housing, you would need to modify the housing to make them adjustable. If you properly mount the lightbar on the top it would be trailerable, but will cause additional wind drag. If you modify the housing in any way any warranty will be void from the manufacturer. The main thing to consider is how much light you need and will this lightbar be at risk of getting knocked off the top by tree limbs or other objects. The price is hard to beat. Another option would be to install a quality brush guard with high quality off-road lights. This route will enable you to place the light closer to the ground for illuminating the path in front of you. You will also be able to hide the wiring harness under the front cowl for a simple and clean install. This is just my opinion, and I hope I have provided some valuable input. Good luck with your lighting decision. |

I bought a pair of these on EBay for $90- they come in rectangular as well. Come with all the hardware to surface mount, they are led so low voltage draw, and man are thy bright! I had to do some cutting and trimming on their aluminum housing to flush mount them, but it can be done fairly easily. They also position really well if you ur face mount them, up/down side/side and then tighten.

Re: Anyone ever use these lights?
I do have those on mine. They are plenty bright. When mounting, I parked the cart about 20 feet from a wall and used the contour of the top to adjust. They attached using double side tape, but I also added a couple rivets to make sure it stays put. I saw the ones for golf carts, but found the same on eBay labeled for automotive use for around $70.00 shipped. Here is a link to one of them:

Re: Anyone ever use these lights?
Just a thought, but have you looked at the LED offraod light bars? I have (2) 75w and (2) 55w Halogens on my canopy at present (and they DO put out quite a bit of light) but I recently had a chance to try out a buddies 180w LED Light Bar and WOW - less wattage (about 12A draw vs almost 17A for the halogens) and literally like 3X the light of all 4 of mine plus it's a nice, even light to the front AND quite a bit to the sides - better to the point where I ordered one and have it in hand just haven't installed it yet ... The light I bought is $275 "Buy it Now" on Ebay but I watched (and lost) a few auctions before I finally landed mine at $218 so it's a nominal upcharge over the Halogens for FAR more light and of course, no more pulling more juice than the alternator puts out (I believe at 4k RPM the G16 puts out like 15.6A max).
I'll post some night pics as soon as I get it mounted and wired in, etc but here's an idea of what it looks like, it's just over 30" long and about 2.5 tall and 3 deep: 20130325_143824.jpg |

Re: Anyone ever use these lights?
Well I got it mounted, ended up mounting it on the cowl as I wasn't thrilled with having it on the canopy (original plan) as I didn't want it bouncing all over offroad as every other light I have ever mounted on the canopy does ... I just have it wired to a single relay for now but plan on opening it up and wiring the 30 degree spots seperately from the 80degree floods (the light is set up 3:2 spot beam reflectors to flood) ... Here are a couple of prelim pics of it on the cart as well as the inaugural test, it was 15 degrees last night so I didn't get a TON of night riding in but this weekend is supposed to be great so I'll see about getting a vid up then
