Default G1 best clutch clearance

getting ready for lift and need to figure out how to clear the frame. Been searching it and can't figure it out. It's the newer G2 clutch.

I'm guessing that I'll have to cut at least 3/4 of the frame away for clearance, and put a strut on top and a piece of angle for side support

Mwar, I'm not crazy about cutting frames in any fashion, I simply marked the frame where I needed the clearance, heated it with a small torch (mapp gas would have been faster) and dented it with a ballpeen hammer! Fast, simple and no nasty cutting. Many have done it this way and only takes a few minutes. if you go back thru my thread you'll see it.

Ditto that!

You'll have to remove the gas tank and engine to do this, but it's way worth it in the amount of time you'll save not cutting and welding, let alone the structural issues you "won't" have....

Since you have the "newer" style clutch, you'll have to work the area a little wider than in the pics, but you get the idea. While your engine is still in, mark the area where the clutch is, and dent it in a good two inches on either side. That way if you lift it you'll still have enough clearance. Lifting the cart moves the clutch location in relation to the main frame since it swings in an arc.

this is the newer style G2 clutch, it's huge. Sticks out way past 1/2 the frame, don't see being able to smash it with a hammer. Maybe I'll look for an older clutch, then do it that way. It would feel better than cutting the frame

I have never seen how much they hang over the frame. I know they are bigger.....but...

Can you post a pic?

If you chop 1/2 the frame you'll be sorry.... There's gotta be a way?
