Lights attached to the roof
Is there anyone that has attached a light ar or lights of any kind to an ez go roof that still like it? I want to mount lights to my roof but don't want it to shake and make me crazy while driving. Is it secure enough or am I better off to mount lower? For offroad purposes I want them higher but also think giving passengers seizures from the strobe shaking lights is not a good option either. Unfortunatly brew city has cost me money that I had decided I could not afford! LEDs are coming, but Ned to know where I can mount to know which one i need.

if you are worried about shaking, add some bracing to the struts to stiffen up the roof. but you are going to get some movement no matter what.

Re: Lights attached to the roof
Were I to do it again, the lightbar would pivot on the front struts. It would lock into position above the roof and pivot down in front of the windshield when not in use. A setup like this would solve my garage door clearance problem and I would be able to buy new springs and mount larger tires. In fact, if I find another canopy local and cheap, that is exactly what will happen.
I am currently on the lookout for a scrap gas grill with thinwall tube sidetray supports to connect my rear roof struts to the sides if my utility bed. That would neutralize a lot of the roof's tendency to shake. It would also be a perfect place to mount one of those awesome jerrycan shaped toolboxes! |

Re: Lights attached to the roof
Glad I could be of service, LOL .... What light or lights did You end up ordering or are you still deciding?
I would totally stay away from the roof mount (as I think I mentioned in my other lighting thread) just strictly BECAUSE of the shaking ... About 90% of my riding is done on trails I have cut through the woods with a bobcat/chainsaw/sweat, beer and blood or tall prarie grass with a trail mower, and having the bar on the cowl solves both the bounce issue as well as being high enough to throw "over" most anything ... You *may* want to play around with the light(s) when you get them, the pattern of the LED's is an entirely different situation than you are probably used to and they're a LOT more forgiving than the halogen counterparts. |

Re: Lights attached to the roof
Can't decide that is the problem! I am actually thinking of mounting to the bottom of the roof mounts and with that I am looking at the 24 inch bar I think. Then if it won't work it will be on the cowl at 30 inches. My 2 problems on the roof are the way I want to mount will be roughly even with the top right underneath just worried about the windshield in the winter which is when I want it mostly anyway. Got a buddy that can weld anything so a temporary attempt is not out of the question either, just hang it from the bolts maybe.
Probably just going to order the 180 watt 30 inch, price wise really not that much difference. I really wanted to send my motor to plum quick, but I think the next few months budget is lighting! Again thanks brew city |
