Getting Wet?
Quick question. I've seen some off-road pics of people in water and I'm curious as to how that works? I have creek on the back side of my property and when my drive belt gets wet I'm stuck. Is there some way to encase it so that it won't get wet? Someone must be doing something. Thanks...

Re: Getting Wet?
I'm sure there may be other ways, but I've seen videos also but the guys in it had chain driven carts. I wonder if putting some type of skid plate underneath the belt area.

Re: Getting Wet?
Most atv's with belt drives do okay in water crossings, as long as the water isn't higher than the floor boards. Deep water will kill all the bearings in your suspension, damage your axle and diff. Keep this in mind. Cross water only when it's not higher than the centerline of your tires. Any deeper and your tires start to float and you'll lose traction, not to mention your drivetrain will be swimming....

Re: Getting Wet?
When we used to off road Jeeps deep water crossing meant two solid days of cleaning and maint. Brakes, bushings, balljoints, electrical connections, seals, fluids and on and on need to be checked, cleaned and serviced. Unless you have prepared your vehicle for it, deep water is not your friend. Listen to Slo and go Slow thru the water! A play on words there!!!

Re: Getting Wet?
I guess I should have asked how deep the water is. Someone posted a video on here of a few guys going thru a creek while trail riding without any problems. But the water looked to only be 6-8" deep.

Re: Getting Wet?
I keep belt dressing on mine,.....does it work? no,.. but i've been through some deep stuff. usually it revs up a little and keeps going. I was looking at a rhino belt verses a cart. the rhino belt has ribs on top and bottom of belt, I think for extra traction. The cart belt is flat on top. The next belt i put on the buggy will have ribs top and bottom.

Re: Getting Wet?
It's about 6-8" deep, maybe a foot in the middle of the creek. It was the deeper part that caused my belt to slip. I sat on it rocking back and fourth until it got enoug grip to keep going. Kind of a pain. I was hoping the lift would bet me high enough (7") but it didn't...
