Questions about winches mounted to receiver hitch
I have my HF winch and have debated for a few weeks on how to mount it. With a TXT front axle, the mounting plate will not clear the steering mechanism without a little adjustment, so back to other choices. I like the idea of mounting to receiver hitches which give you the option to move forward or rear, depending on your situation which give me 2 questions:
1. If you tend to leave it, especially on the front, does it move and rattle and get on your nerves, or how do you fix that? 2. If using something like a trolling motor set up, where did you mount the "receiver/female" plug or plugs, and did you have to rewire the winch to get a plug to work? Did you use 2 plug ins to keep your wires from being all over the place? |

Re: Questions about winches mounted to receiver hitch
Buy/ build a brush guard with attached winch pad. It will make your install a breeze. Mine is "The Beast" available (well, last I knew...) On eBay. The worst rattles are from whatever happens to be occupying the utility bed. You barely notice the jingle of the hook over the radio.
Mine is hardwired. I'd just put the front and rear recptacles wherever they are most convenient. |
